Oregon's US Highway 97 — (High Desert Road Trip) to Bend

RVerTV

Heck Yeah! Today we're rolling north on US Highway 97 from Crater Lake all the way to Bend, Oregon — one of the great high desert drives in the American West! We cruise through the small towns of Chemult, Crescent, and La Pine, watching the landscape shift from volcanic forest to open pine country. Then we pull off for a stop that seriously impressed me — the High Desert Museum just south of Bend. This place is VERY well done, folks — live wildlife on display, incredible exhibits, and worth every minute. The next morning, we head out on Highway 20 to the Three Sisters mountain viewpoint for one of the best mountain views in all of Oregon. Three snow-capped volcanic peaks lined up like they're posing for the camera! If you love backroads, small towns, and big mountain scenery, this one's for you. So grab your mushroom coffee and come ride along!Traveling the backroads of America one mile at a time — RVERTV Style! → rvertv.tv

Now you're up in Cental Oregon where I grew up. Years ago I hit an owl coming down from Portland at nighttime. He was stuck in the grill but still alive. Terrible. I went to the 24 hr truck stop in Madras. A vet came and pulled him out. His wing got stuck in the grill. They took him to High Desert Museum there in Bend and he recovered. Thanks for the ride along as always

I love the way you travel, take in everything you can and you don't have to stick to a schedule. If you see something that interests you, you go visit it. That's how I like to travel. In fact, I like to go to places and just get lost in the area to discover interesting things. You've given me some great ideas! Safe travels!

I like the old stagecoach. We sure have it a lot easier than in the 1800s.

Hi Russ, I want you to know how much I appreciate your videos it’s so pleasant and so easy to watch. I’m from northwest Georgia. And I’m sure I’m not alone in saying you are super doing this. As I know I will never make it back out that way. I’ve been up and down west coast. Big Sur you need to visit that place you will be overwhelmed with the beauty of all those giant trees. I stayed at Big Sur campground. It’s breathtaking. Please keep up the good work you are a very good guide. Thank you from Northwest Georgia I’ll be watching.
