What do you think of Chloe Price?

I think people also forget/don't know that if you check the voicemails in before the storm bonus, you find out that before Williams dies, Chloe is already struggling in school. She was being made fun of and had no friends at all besides Max in before the storm. She needed support, but instead her father died, and her only friend left the same week.

The fact that people said that Chloe was being rude to Max is insane. Sure Chloe took her anger out on Max, but they made up for it for each other and I love Chloe and I’m glad we’re seeing her more in reunion. Also, keep up the good work.

“I gotta blame somebody. Otherwise it’s all my fault. Fuck that.”

This is a Chloe line I’ve seen people misunderstand. Chloe isn’t literally saying her dad dying is William’s or Joyce’s fault, she’s saying she feels like William’s death is HER fault. She thinks everything bad that’s happened is her fault, so she needs to find someone else to blame, even though she knows they aren’t to blame.

I think another thing that gets Chloe a bad rap is that she was a main character in a narrative choice game. Back then characters in narrative games (The Walking Dead Game especially) would guilt the player character whenever they made a choice that didn’t favor them. This is a way to get the player to question their choices and encourage a replay. It’s a consequence of it being a game, and people can’t see that and can’t cut her slack for. Being a video game character.

I love Chloe. She’s one of my favorite characters probably ever. I think she’s a realistic depiction of a person who went through a lot of grief and trauma.

I like to see in Reunion how Chloe has come to terms with the shortcomings of her life, accepting what's happened since her dad's passing, and how her attitude has changed about it as a grown woman compared to her teen years.

Love this take. From a fellow anxious attachmenter, understanding Chloe's experience through BTS and the hurt she carries from all of the abandonment she's had to go through hit so hard at the time. To me Chloe Price will always be a masterpiece and my absolute favourite character (with an honourable mention to Rachel Amber) ❤

I hate the fact that people are saying that Chloe was a user and that she never loved Max or cared about her.

I have to say, I DO have a totally legit degree in clinical counseling and you are SPOT ON. I especially appreciate how you drew the connection between Chloe's life circumstances to her attachment style to her actions. I love how you said that everything becomes like a safety test for Chloe; when you look at it that way and dig below the surface, she becomes such a deep and rich character. I especially love that digging into characters like this can help us better understand the people around us. I love Chloe and I just want to give her a hug and be someone she can trust and who STAYS. She deserves that. Thanks for this! Excellent work as always!

So glad you made this video. If you didn't, I was probably going to eventually. I've never viewed Chloe Price as this absolutely vile person like a lot people. I've always thought she was a heavily flawed, but ultimately really compelling character. You did a great job putting into words how I feel. Anyway, awesome video and I look forward to what you have in store with this series!

Coming from someone with anxious attachment and who has been abandoned literally by someone who was my max basically, situation is heavily different but I never had a game character I could relate too so much until Chloe price.

That Kate phone call scene always makes me roll my eyes 'cus we could have had Chloe being petty and still have Max just leave with her and answering Kate's call in the car it's not like Kate called her on the diner's landline phone 😂

Chloe's actually an easy "mean" girl character to defend 'cus she apologises almost every time and her being selfish falls apart by the end of the game.

Haters are just gonna hate.

We play as well you said it was absolutely correct. Chloe is hurting, and she is out as a way to cope with abandonment. If you look at her in the alternate reality where refuse paralyzed, she feels guilt for her family being in debt because of her medical bills, She’s frustrated with immobility, and feels lonely because no one comes to Sierra. But the main difference is is that her father is still alive. Her family is still together and therefore she doesn’t have an internal rage in feeling that everyone is going to abandon her. She is absolutely Southwest. When she asks math you unplug her and when she asks Max to go back in time and let her die. Great video essay, I can’t wait to see your Max Cakkfied video.

I always emphatized with Chloe, she is a believable character.
Most people couldn't due to misogyny, i can't prove it, but when you see the difference of treatment with grieving characters such as Kratos, Joel,... what other explanations could there be?
Especially considering Chloe shows genuine interest in Max and proves to be a selfless person at the end.

this is such a good video. she loves max and its very obvious

I just want to say I have always loved your character analysis and theories. For this video I completely agree with you and it feels so nice to see someone actually understand Chloe's entire character on a grey scale and not just black and white. Heavy on the Kate's call incident though people tend to not put themselves into Chloe's shoes and just lashes at her for being too 'controlling' and 'emotional' but also forgets her apology in the hospital for not knowing what Kate was going through. Chloe is such a remarkable character and I cannot wait to see her growth and dialogues in life is strange reunion.

And your max caulfield character analysis!!! Love her so much

Seeing this take on Chloe is so refreshing. I feel like you put my thoughts about Chloe into better words. Will you be making a video for Rachel?

I've been team Chloe all the way before the car ride in Crystalis was over 🦋

The way people treated Chloe and Rachel is exactly how people treated Kenny in Telltale’s The Walking Dead by calling him a bad character.

Watched both of your Chloe and Max deep dives. I agree with all of the points you raised, and it makes me feel relieved to see another person understanding what both characters went through. Neither of them is perfect, and honestly, they shouldn't be. Their flaws, their humanity, etc., are what make them so special. As a person who has experienced many of the things those characters went through, it just shows that we are all just humans trying our best to survive based on what we've learned, witnessed, or how our support systems were built. After finishing Reunion, both of these videos helped with my post-LIS depression and, of course, facing some parts of my past. So, thank you!

honestly i don’t think max had any right to feel jealous over chloe bringing up rachel all the time when she came back. max left and didn’t keep her promises and was gone for half a decade. chloe had every right to express her pain over rachel being missing and how important she was to her.
