I Only Ate Immigrant Food in London (Not One British Dish)

Everyone argues about borders right now. Who belongs, who doesn't. Brexit happened in this country on exactly that argument. And yet the best meal we ate in London all week wasn't British — it was Lebanese rotisserie chicken, Iraqi lamb kofta, and a piece of baklava that ruined every other baklava for us permanently.

This episode, we're doing "Best of the UK: Not From the UK" — hunting down the food that actually built this city's flavor, one shopfront, one open flame, and one family recipe at a time.

We start at a Lebanese spot doing open-fire rotisserie chicken and shawarma towers shaving off over 2,000 wraps a day, then eat family dinner off the hood of a car in a parking lot. From there, it's a trip to Rayan for pistachio baklava that might be the best we've ever had, before landing at an Iraqi restaurant that starts feeding you before you've even opened a menu — lentil soup, laban, whole grilled sea bass, and lamb kofta that stopped the whole table mid-conversation.

None of it was on a tourist map. All of it was better than half the "Best of London" lists out there.
