We gotta mention that right now the best coaches are Spanish as well. Champions league, Europa League, Premier, World Cup . They are everywhere everywhere influencing the world

"Spain has claimed 25 titles across all age groups and senior levels between 2000 and 2026

Congratulations Spain ❤❤❤. Fully deserved

Spain has:

- More players in the top 5 European leagues than any other country. La Liga has comfortably the highest % of domestic players out of those 5 leagues, plus plenty of Spanish players have moved to and done well at clubs in the other 4.
- More managers in the top 5 European leagues than any other country.
- Considerably more UEFA Pro / UEFA A licensed coaches than any other European country.
- A clear vision and identity on how to play, running through all of their youth teams.

So they have the best base of players, as clearly the more that are getting regular action in the top leagues in the world, the better their depth becomes.

And they also the best base of coaches (managers, assistant managers, first team coaches, youth team coaches etc.) to work with and develop those players.

That quarterfinal with Italy changed everything. I was living in Catalunya, it was a regular weekday, you cannot imagine the party everywhere...I think it was my biggest celebration ever. So yes, it definitely changed everything, we were lose free after it, and I guess the players too...the rest if history

We must also mention the merits of the women's national football team across all its divisions. The Spanish women's national team has three official titles in its record: the FIFA Women's World Cup (2023) and two editions of the UEFA Women's Nations League (2024 and 2025). If we include the youth categories, the total rises to 16 trophies.

Well, it was Johan Cruyff, when he started coaching FC Barcelona (a few years earlier), who said the famous phrase...
"The best way to defend is to have possession of the ball."

Perdón, cinco grandes torneos, tres eurocopas 2008, 2012, 2024 y dos mundiales, 2010 y 2026

as spaniard I realized we have a way of play and football education that most of us share. I live abroad and one day we got together 5 spaniards that never played together before, and played 5vs5 against british guys, our team started playing passing game without talk about it, it is in our culture, we enjoy playing that way.

In Spain when kids are scouted to join academies, they don’t care about the physical aspect or lack of pace. They concentrate more on the raw natural skills, technical talent etc, the philosophy produce talented youngsters, good managers and a proper structure. I heard people say England have the same talent as Spain, that’s rubbish. The only English players that could make it to the Spanish starting lineup are Kane and maybe Jude.

Magnífico programa, con un inteligentísimo y simpático Guillem Balagué, lo he visto dos veces.

Spain’s philosophy is to play the ball quickly, not to run with it. The ball moves faster than the players; by all playing one-touch triangles together, you manage to wear down and disorient the opposition as they chase the ball.

Javier Clemente was Basque too and he was one of the main reasons Spain underachieved for so long, so I'm not sure about that point of view. He had an ultra defensive mentallity and was infamous for lining up full backs in the midfield. His mindframe was that you can't lose if you don't conceed goals and he was 100% commited to that idea. That meant that the team would fall apart every time a goal was conceeded cause he had no alternate plan or suitable players to do something else. Also, I think it's bold to give Iñaki Sáez so much credit for the current state of Spanish National Team, he was just flat as a coach, but that's just my opinion, not really sure what his involvement with the federation was after he stepped down. BTW, don't get me wrong, Basques are indeed profesional and commited but that by itself means very little and can go the other way like it did with Clemente.

I'd say everything got better simply when brave coaches started coming in, like Camacho, Aragonés, Del Bosque or De La Fuente himself, coaches who wouldn't demand their players to hold back. The talent was always kind of there, maybe some generations were not as good but most of them could have definitely done better in a lot of tournaments if players weren't missused.

Sean dyche is such a dino. Just wants grit and hard work

Spanish here, and I dont like to overhype our football momentum. Its brilliant, but we need to remain humble in order to keep improving. Never say you are going to be the BEST always, as this guy says. Just try to prove It with actions and talk less.

It is a pleasure listen quite and with arguments thanks.

Cruijffs legacy on Spains playing style is huge !

People only think about Johan Cruyff, but it was more than just him. He came to the right country—a country whose footballing style already suited his philosophy—but he also brought a winning mentality and a strong competitive mindset.
Guillén made a really good point about rondos at a young age. I've spent time around English kids, and I can tell you there's a big difference. Spanish kids have always enjoyed playing small-sided games like rondos or 1v1s from a very young age. That helps develop the technical ability needed to perform at the highest level.
Another important factor is futsal. Most Spanish kids grow up playing on futsal courts, and only when they're around 12 or 13 do some of them move into leagues with larger pitches—usually 7-a-side football until they're about 15 or 16. Spending so many years playing in tight spaces forces players to develop excellent first touches, close control, quick decision-making, and technical ability.

What Guillem says, being Spanish, shouldn't be spread (HA, HA): Spain's game isn't made attention to as the focus is set somewhere else...I hope it keeps like that...as I prefer collecting titles and dominating rather than having Spaniards on the papers :)
