I taught 3rd grade for 3 years. It was my world!!!! I bought a home, got married, & got pregnant shortly after. I had my son signed up for daycare before he was even born, next year contract signed, everything ready. But as soon as he got here I decided to stay home. Shortly after that I had another son and just continued to stay home. I loved my school- my classroom- everything. I couldn’t imagine giving it up- but I did. My first son is now 2 & 1/2 years old, & my 2nd son is 4 months old. Still home- and am still missing the classroom so much- but it will always be there. These days with them being so small- won’t be. I would watch your videos to help me get by. Felt like I was still in the classroom through you!! It’s a huge adjustment and when you love the classroom so much it takes awhile to get used to- but it’s worth it. So happy for you. You’ve got this mama.

Fellow teacher turned SAHM here and I know exactly how you are feeling! I had my son in September, went back to work in December, and had to send him to daycare for the second half of the school year. He was sick a lot, I felt like I hardly saw him, and I was miserable and cried every single day about it. I loved my job SO much and I never could’ve imagined leaving, but being a mom changed everything. I’ve been home with him for a full school year now and can safely say I 100% made the right decision. I still miss my job some days, but when I look at him I know there’s just nowhere else I’d rather be. ♥️ Just know that you’re doing AMAZING!!

You will never regret the time taken with your baby!! They change so much that first year, I’m so happy for you ! Everything you went through I went through with pumping I ended up pumping a whole year with two of my kids and breastfeeding the other two exclusively every baby is different you’re not a failure whatsoever! As she gets older she will get stronger and be able to transfer better. I stepped out of the classroom 9 years ago and I’ve homeschooled all four of my kids. I know you love teaching and will do what’s best for you when the time comes, god bless your family!

No one tells you that breastfeeding is hard. I nursed all three of mine and each one was different. For me, around 8 weeks was the sweet spot. We both figured things out and it got easier. Stick with it if you can—the benefits are worth it. The best thing you can do is find a support person, someone who has done it before and can reassure you that you are not failing. Every woman’s body is different too. I did not produce a lot of milk, therefore my babies ate a lot more often. I had a friend who overproduced and she had a freezer stocked full. You can’t change your body, find a rhythm and work with it. Staying at home this year will help with these things. Prayers for you and your family.

The exahustion of motherhood is something I never expected but it gets so much better with time :) I am so excited and happy that you get to stay home with baby girl, as a former stay at home mom myself, it's the best decision I ever made and I would not change it for the world! I've watched you from the beginning of your youtube channel and I will continue to watch no matter what content you have. I know it's hard leaving a career to be at stay at home mom, I cried so much, but it was the best for our family even though it was hard as I also had a wonderful teaching career. I went back many years later :)

Katie, I can't even imagine how bittersweet it was to make the decision to stay home. But I have loved your teaching channel-its truly gotten me through some challenging school years-and if it turns into a lifestyle channel in this new season of mom life I'm sure I will love it just as much! There are so many moms that share their lives on YT without showing baby so I'm sure you'll figure it out.

Being a SAHM is the hardest thing I have ever done but you won’t regret the time with her especially when time doesn’t SLOW down. Congrats to your sweet family ❤

I did the same thing you are doing only 30 years ago. It’s ok to have mixed feelings. I know this might sound weird but it’s a good time to start a masters or doctorate program. It keeps your mind busy but allows you to be home. There are so many programs online and you will never regret it. ❤. Keep us up to date on how things are going.

Congratulations and enjoy your time at home. I will miss your teaching content. Here in the UK teachers have the opportunity to have a year paid maternity leave, which I did for both my babies. When I did go back to work I went back part time and my mum looked after the children and when my youngest was 2 my husband went part time so I could go full time again! It worked perfectly for me and my family. My children attended my school and I taught them both in Y6 (their last year in primary) which was such a privilege. I’ve been teaching almost 30 years and still love it.

I did the same thing 23 years ago. I took a year off. . .and it turned into ten years. But then God opened up the classroom door again when my kids were 8 and 10. It was perfect..

Congrats Katie! You sound like an amazing mom:) I went to a lactation specialist/support group. We fed our babies and then weighed them and shared stories. I went all the time and made some wonderful friendships, one of whom I am still friends with after 21 years! Infants are hard, but I loved having a community of moms going through the same things as me. I too stayed home after teaching, for 9 years. Don’t regret a single minute;) Enjoy your time with your baby girl ❤.

I am so happy for you!! I stayed home for 6 years. Best. Decision. Ever. If it’s doable financially of course. Motherhood is a journey and no one is an expert but just listen to things that others did and worked for them for ideas. No two babies, moms or situations are the same. Congratulations again and enjoy every minute!!!
PS drink lots of water and eat consistently to produce more milk. Any other goodies like the milk-producing cookies, Mother’s Milk Tea, etc are bonuses. 🥰😘🙏🏼

I am so glad that you will be staying home with your baby girl. I never had that option but I always wanted to be a stay at home mom. You will still be teaching what us teachers always say. Teaching starts at home. I enjoy your channel. I’ll watch what you decide to share. Enjoy

I taught for two years with my first two. It was so hard. I really wish I could have stayed home with my first two girls. Thankfully my mom took care of my girls (and my sister's baby girl- cause she is super like that) so it was much easier to go back to work, than if I had to take them to daycare. But still, I am super happy that you are able to be with your precious girl this first year of her life when they grow and change so quickly. I was able to go back to teaching when my 4 girls were all in middle or high school. Feel very thankful that I had so many years with my girls at home. Looking forward to seeing any of your mom life that you want to share. I am sure that God will guide you in what ever you should do for the channel. Praying for many blessings in the coming months. ❤

Hi Katie! I just wanted to drop a comment and tell you that I am so grateful for your channel. You have helped me so much, as a third grade teacher, to prep for my classroom as well as to learn better reflective teaching practices. Though I will be entering into year six this upcoming year, it is always so refreshing to see the content of other teachers who have such a heart for teaching. This video filled me with so much happiness for you! I love that you are getting time with your sweet girl this year. Your channel is such a breath of fresh air and I look forward to future content. Prayers for you and your little one this year and thank you for being such a light! :)

Congrats on your decision to stay home. How exciting! I taught 9 years and then stayed home for 12. I started my staying home time when my oldest wen to kindergarten and went back during his senior year of high school. I also had 3 year old when I decided to stay home and then had a third a year later. I don't regret a thing about staying home and loved every second. I wasn't sure I'd ever go back, but then an opening popped up at my youngest's school and I am so happy I went back. I loved my one year with my youngest at my school (he's moving on to middle school) and the staff is amazing. I also left teaching when I had the most wonderful team, teaching my favorite grade. So it was a hard decision! Just enjoy your time at home and know teaching is always there when/if you want to go back!
