11:37 - Which SmallRig Battery Should You Buy?

SmallRig has released a ton of V-mount batteries recently, and sorting through all the options can be overwhelming. In this video we break down every battery in SmallRig's lineup and I break down all differences, prices, specs and give you a tailored recommendation based on budget, features and the right output for your workflow to make sure you have enough power without spending too much on unnecessary features. There is so much more to batteries than their capacity!

All the ports on the batteries are nice to have, but having to unplug every single cable from the battery when it runs out just to plug everything back into the new battery is a hassle. Using a D-tap 4-port splitter mounted to the camera plugged into a V-mount plate is a much better solution for fast battery swapping.

Such a great video, very useful for me for building professional rigs! As a working videographer, I always come to your videos, whether posted now vs. nearly a decade ago, for all your top quality content.

Covering 11 batteries without losing pacing is an art, and the story behind co-designing the VB212 made it even better. Dropped a note in your inbox about a partnership opportunity, check it when you get a second!

So happy to see this video, I have 4 v-mount batteries from Smallrig that, while they all have "99" on them, each looks different from the others

Be aware that the front glass of the X99 x Renan Ozturk edition is great but extremely fragile. I broke 2 batteries in my camera bag and its unreadable.

which is best and safe for my R5C and my R6

Really like your versions of the VB12 batteries from SmallRig. They're really compact for the amount of wattage and can easily power an FX6 camera through a full shoot day.

The VB212 has been my primary battery supporting a FX3 and fx30. I have 2 1st gen vb99s (one in the box) and 1 vb99 pro 1st gen that’s used as my backup. I would like another vb212 to support lighting.

love small rig products, but recently I had problems with 2 vb155s. the screen just stopped working. I talked with the customer support, and they replaced both batteries. for my surprise, 1 month after that, the display of the new batteries stoped working also... Im in contact either them, hope we can find a way. love smallrig but im a bit frustrated with this situation. anyone else had this problem of with the vb line?

Crazy timing. I just traded my cineback for a smallrig battery.

Could you please ask them to change the rubber port door? It is quite easy to damage , mine already spoiled. SAD

Hi! What about voltage drop at low charge levels? How does it handle connecting multiple devices and distributing power? If one device is disconnected, is there a voltage spike or drop on the other connected device? What about self-discharge? Have measurements of the actual battery capacity been taken?

I shoot a lot on-location in the NV high desert and just recently purchased the X99. There's no screen lock, so bracing the rig against my chest reads right through my shirt and kills the USB-C ports mid-take. Lost power to my Zoom F3 recorder that way. D-Tap stays on no matter what you do to the screen, so run anything critical off D-Tap. Also the X99 at least lists an operating temp range (5-140F discharge). I couldn't find one published anywhere for the T99, which seems like a miss for something they're selling as triple-proof. I emailed SmallRig asking for a firmware update to add a screen lock, but maybe Caleb can move things along with his connections with them. I've been a long time fan since Magic Lantern to shoot RAW on 6D days.

I've got four x221's and they're great

The screens on the Nano series are almost impossible to read. I really wish they sacrifice some power for a more legible screen. Hard to see your power levels when you can't see the display. :/ Nice comparison video.
