How firm pressure do the strings need without causing stress on the fingers grouped for the chord shapes.

As a neurologist ( now guitar student) I really enjoy your Neuro scientific  descriptions, but am even more fascinated by the breadth of knowledge that you have in so many areas. I am thrilled to have discovered your channel, your book, simply all of the resources that you provide. Great communicator, contagious enthusiasm for  what you so beautifully describe as the the magic and ethereal nature of music and the guitar. You are a treasure in this world.

Excellent Lesson! Thank you!

Just what I need - simplicity

Heyup Ricky, by 'eck lad you really have got an amazing teaching style, I wish I had stumbled across you 10 years ago. You are the only teacher I've found who advocates this method, and it is SO logical! In my younger days I did rock climbing, and later in life offshore sailing. Both sports have a cardinal rule; ALWAYS keep at least one hand on the rock or boat, and you use this very method of scouting and planting - you NEVER lose physical contact. I was already comfortable with changing between those chords, but getting a good change wasn't consistent - once your method clicked I was literally flying through those chords, and very smoothly. Transformative for me Ricky because I've avoided barre chords like the plague, now I am far more confident that I can get them to work - I was changing between C and Big-F like a good 'un last night.

Thanks so much, Ricky.

Been drilling myself to get into finger smartness on strings, so i love the "scouts, plant, lift etc".

Grea-t video.
As always, you are a grea-t teacher.

One important thing;

It was the cover image on this video, showing ligaments, that got me clicking.
I appreciate the thought you came up with, to put the image here.

I hope to do a video on simple knuckle flexibility someday, for guitarists, but for now, ...?

Im content, just learning from the feet of great teachers like you.
Thanks.

A fox and a rabbit 🐇 were talking at a watering hole...the fox was boasting how slick and fast and tricky he was....he said... if a wolf comes at me I can hide in a bush or in a log or on a log or I can backtrack around I have many ways to escape! Then he asked the rabbit what can you do? The rabbit 🐇 replied...I just run like a rabbit !

Awesome tutorial,  Ricky

I think I have the unconscious frame of mind?

That's definitely the best way I've heard chord change technique explained on Youtube. Thanks Ricky, your guitar lessons are always the best

Very helpful!  Thank you! and my stumpy sausages thank you too!

Great!

Love You Ricky!- helped me a lot this year. However,  it's  Jim Croceee (pronunciation). I hear some NLP language in your teaching. Keep it coming.

thank you Ricky you got me playing after 55 years

I use the Three fingers for G: middle, ring and pinkie to allow an easier switch to G7. That took a while to get used to. FYI looking forward to receiving your ring binder edition.

Really appreciate all the work you put out here! Love your content, thanks man, but the ads are just ridiculous. Every passing minute or two a new ad starts playing ahaha, sorry for the rant, free the youtube! :D
