Welcome to day three of our Dolomites adventure! Today, Saz and I are visiting Lago di Braies (Lake Braies / Pragser Wildsee), one of the most famous destinations in the Italian Dolomites.
We arrived around 7:30 am to enjoy the peaceful mountain scenery, crystal-clear turquoise water and spectacular reflections before the crowds arrived.
🥾 LAGO DI BRAIES CIRCULAR WALK
Our walk takes us around the lake, discovering incredible viewpoints, the famous wooden rowing boats, a lakeside rifugio and a beautiful little chapel.
We also find what might be the best picnic bench in the world!

Location: Lago di Braies, South Tyrol, Italy
Route: Circular lake walk
Distance: Approximately 3.6 km / 2.2 miles
Difficulty: Easy to moderate
Time: Allow around 2 hours with photography stops
💡 OUR TIPS FOR VISITING LAGO DI BRAIES
Our biggest recommendation is to arrive early! We found that visiting around 7:30 am gave us time to enjoy the scenery before the crowds arrived.
Stay until the end for our thoughts on whether Lago di Braies really lives up to its reputation.
