We’ve officially made it through the first quarter of our homeschool year…and I’m already making some curriculum changes 🤪.
In this video, I’m sharing an update on what’s working, what we’re changing, and how things are going with my 2nd grader, two 8th graders, and 9th grader. I’m also sharing some thoughts on balancing multiple ages, high school workloads, and several of the curriculum choices you guys have been asking me about.

I have your program, and I am learning it slowly. I am not tech savvy and love paper.
I love their math, if you ever hit a block with Singapore, you should give their math a try , it’s like a light version of Saxon, but still rigorous and thorough.
Never tried their LA , but if that doesn’t work in the future, I recommend Rod and Staff English , it’s grammar and composition ( alternated by chapters , but more composition in higher grades ) . What I love about it is , it’s straight to the point , one grammar concept per lesson, done . It’s great if you are piercing together your LA with other components, so it’s not too heavy . It does have many questions in oral and written versions per lesson , but because it was made for schools , I usually pick one or 2 questions per lesson , and we are good .
I’m also using BJU press heritage studies , and feel the same as you , I don’t love it, but don’t hate it haha but it’s perfect for my first grader once we prioritize our time in Learning to Read .

We also love MB's Let's Talk Science series. We are in the last level which is level 4. Sad there isn't other science that is short and sweet like that.
