I love your FFOs. When you spoke of the writing on the back of your piece my mind immediately went to the recipe book of my grandmother’s with the preserve and pickle recipes that my niece now has. We do love seeing the writing of our past relatives indeed. Great idea. 🦉🧵✂️🪡❤❤🎃

The conversation here about language use in books is interesting to read, so thank you for initiating it, even if you were hesitant to do so. It seems that the book has made a big impact on you. I love when books do that.

I once read that there's a part of our brain that is triggered when someone makes a grammatical error. It's a little like a pain response. It's also triggered when we hear swear words...unless the listener has heard or used salty language so much as to become immune to it. I'm definitely immune in my own environments (though I notice intently and feel the alarm when I'm around people who I've never heard curse).

One thing I do to make sure I don’t sit to long while stitching is to set a timer using google home . When it goes off I know I got get up and move walk around the house or do a household chore .

Love the WIPS, new starts, and finishes! About the book: I’ve never walked away from a book because of language. I do evaluate the usage - does the language fit the character? I’m trying to significantly reduce my household (but not my hobby stuff!) and read Messie Condo’s book. (And yes, that the name she used!) That book had more f-bombs than I have ever encountered in a book and I can see where it probably turned some readers off. But she has great ideas and it has really helped me tackle this project. Ultimately, every reader decides what works for them ( in terms of language, violence, or other trigger characteristics.) I’m also a librarian, so that probably influences my response!

Great ffo’s Laura and beautiful stitching, as always. Regarding language in a book or on tv I have no problem with that at all but I struggle with topics like child or animal abuse. Thanks for sharing.

Great video, I will be doing the globe for sure and maybe one of the snowflakes. I will gladly read a good book and if it has an explicit or disturbing scene I will sometimes skim the scene and continue on with the story.❤🇨🇦

Your FFO's look great. The Halloween finish is adorable. I like how you removed Halloween at the bottom. I guessed that you had started the Yeti. It looks great on that fabric. As far as books, I don't mind superficial as long as the book has some substance. I assume the book has trigger warnings listed so I'd probably mention that if you're going to talk about the book. I think most readers are aware to read them but you never know. I think the term you were looking for is New Adult. That's the next category after Young Adult. I'm plugging away on Pumpkin Perch by Diana Bloom. I started in the middle so I'm stitching the oriole & loving it.

On the book topic, I will read anything that catches my fancy. I was in the Coast Guard for 21 years, so salty language clearly will not bother me. For spicy stuff, my mother just flips ahead through it because she has read the same spicy formulas over and over, through the years, and it doesn't add to the storylines for her. I'll not snub an otherwise amazing book because something offends me in theory or prunciple.
Thanks for sharing your incredible stitching. I'm doing the same Rainy London that Andrew is for his WIP Into Shape. I love your Mary Poppins piece!
You may want to borrow a trick which is to set a softly buzzing or vibrating timer every 30 minutes to remind you to get up and move and stretch. Sending luv from Colorado!
