At this point our governments have to be corrupt and intentionally doing this. This is beyond incompetence. We could replace our entire government with teenagers and i think it could only be a better situation than the tools we currently have in power.

What you described at around 11:00 minutes is exactly what tempted across the first settlers of Canada. Basically people were offered land to come settle in Canada because the climate was so harsh and isolated.

Fast forward to 2026. Now the prices are so inflated people just want to leave.

Good video pal🎉

Government is an organized crime syndicate; everything is going according to plan.

To much government involved in home construction, everything government touches ,it fails.

The offal ... err .. official illiberal plan was always turning every neighborhood into a 15-minute urban prison complex, that you overpay for ... forever. 😮

NO ONE in the federal Liberal party has any interest in fixing housing in Canada.   They have Gregor Robertson as the housing minister and he's the chief pumper.  Trudeau even said house prices cannot be allowed to fall.

Good, the type of houses they were building were useless anyways...we need 900 sf bungalows not 5000 sf overpriced shit that no one can afford!

Yes, the fix will be painful, it's easy, but painful. Free up the lands for Canadians to own, remove most of the regulations and taxes, and let the market correct with no safety net from the government.

Canada is replacing single family home owners with multiple single adults sharing dwellings designed for single people or single family.

basically building out slums of Mumbai

Many regulations that the government has in place are not to protect the people they are to protect the big businesses from competition.

What worries me, developers who by up productive farmland to build houses on.  In Ontario, we only have X number of acres of highly productive farmland.  Less productive land should be used to grow houses.  Keep the productive land for growing food.

Imagine paying a mortgage of $650 000 when your house is going to $450 000........$350 000.......$250 000....$150 000

How do 90,000 real estate agents survive in the market, most of them by lying and pushing people to accept the high price.

It’s not the government’s land it’s our land

Add to supply side but we all know politicians hate that option.

At this point unfortunately I don't think a housing crash will be the great fix that everyone thinks it is.  The Canadian economy is so ridiculously over-dependent on housing construction the size of the correction we need could destroy our economy for 20 years or longer. We really need the Singapore model, with plentiful and affordable public housing. It was a massive mistake that our federal government abandoned building public housing back in the 70s and they need to reverse course as quickly as possible.

Problem #1 fix the land price.  Start charging full taxes on the empty lot.  Why sell a lot if you make 10-20-30k while you pay 1k in taxes…. You still make profit

Problem #2 remove the stupid city crazy permit tax.  If the city want money, tax in #1 will refill their pockets whole lot price will drop…

Problem #3 fix the architect that designed stupid house that have water in every corner, crazy terrible ducks, crazy electrical, every other valley possible on the roof, that double the cost of everything.

Problem #4 fix that builder that accepts problem 4…

Problem #5 dismember the large builder, they control the overall system and make sure their bottom line isn’t touched and remove the option and competition on the market

100% true, no single homes being built

I live 1 hour north of Toronto, I walk some rural roads in the area. A large part of the area is owned by Condrain, they bought farm property maybe 20 to 30 years ago. These developers have access to population changes or could be that they change populations in areas.
Our population in the area has increased in the last 20 years. Just like all areas in the GTA.
I do believe in what was written in the book Green Mask.

Okay, talking from historical experience
Raised in the 50’s & 60’s
New houses were like 1100 to 1200 sq.ft & you must believe me when I say families were much larger than today
That time period is considered as the “ golden era” by many ,as cars seemed to be really cars also.
Anyway seems to me today’s expectations could be reduced a lot when it comes house building
