Tobu Railway will introduce the new 90000 series trains to the Tojo Line from 2026.

The 90000 series trains will replace the 9000 series trains currently operating on the Tojo Line. Equipped with the latest equipment and an efficient configuration, the 90000 series will reduce power consumption by more than 40% compared to the 9000 series trains, resulting in high energy-saving performance that reduces environmental impact. They also aim to improve service by providing comfortable interior spaces for passengers.

The design of the trains is based on the concept of "My Boat Connecting the Region, People, and the Future," focusing on the fact that the roots of people and goods movement in the Tojo Line area lie in boat transport on the Arakawa and Shingashi Rivers. Inspired by the bottom of Takase-bune boats, the trains feature a reverse-slant design with a curved, upward curve from the lower front, creating a bold and striking front end design unlike any other trains before. The interior also features a design and color scheme inspired by boat transport, creating a calming and relaxing passenger space.

This time, Tobu Channel took a sneak peek at the Hitachi Kasado Factory in Yamaguchi Prefecture, where the new "90000 Series" trains are being manufactured.

In this third installment of the series, we'll introduce the final inspection and running test processes, where various testing equipment is used to inspect the car body and its functions.
