Well... it's October 2nd.

For weeks, social media has been filled with videos promising a massive nationwide trucker strike on October 1st. Truckers were supposedly going to park their rigs, shut down the country and finally show America what happens when the people moving everything decide to stop.

There was just one problem.

Where was the organization?

I've been saying from the beginning that being angry isn't the same thing as organizing a national strike. Viral videos aren't a plan. A hashtag isn't a union. And millions of independent drivers, owner-operators and trucking companies don't magically park their equipment because somebody on the internet picked a date.

Now October 1st has come and gone.

So today, as an actual owner-operator who spends his life inside this industry, we're talking about what happened, what didn't happen, and why the internet owes me an apology. 😆

None of this means truckers aren't angry. Diesel prices are brutal. Small carriers are struggling. Drivers have legitimate complaints about fuel, rates, regulations and the economics of this industry.

But if truckers ever seriously decide to organize something on a national scale, it's going to require considerably more than TikTok videos telling everybody to stay home on the same day.

Anyway...

It's October 2nd.

What trucker strike?
