The biggest sin was the poster that made one think we were going to see numbers of Apache helicopters vs dragons!

You mentioned that the helo needs lots of fuel, but so does the tank and the plane they flew in on.  Worse, all of this military equipment needs a ton of specialized maintenance and spare parts to keep running - which Van San has no way to perform the maintenance or find the spares.

That scene where the dragon roasts the entire column of vehicles in one long breath is epic

I still think the dragons in this are some of the better ones put on screen.  Even after all these years later, they still look great.

The fact that the movie took place in 2020 was hilarious. 😂

I saw this movie with my dad in the theater.  We got 1 large popcorn, 1 large coke, 1 large candy selection.  We just planned on sharing everything.  About 10 minutes in my dad passed me the coke holding it from the lid.  As I was just about to take it, the lid popped off and he dumped the entire large coke into my lap.  We never stopped laughing about it for the entire movie.  He did sneak out to get me some napkins and another drink.

I watched this when I was a young kid one night, and its one of those films that's just always stuck with me. I remember pausing the opening scenes to read the newspapers, showing how we dismissed the attacks until it was too late, and whole cities were suddenly burning. The only thing that worked in any meaningful way was nuking them. "They burned us so we burned them back" I think he says in the film. But by then there were too many of them, and between the dragon fire and the nuclear fire the world fell apart.

Bought the game for Ps2, had to play as the Humans before I could play the Dragons. Unlocked the Dragons, ate Christian Bale, wiped out the Humans, put the game back on the shelf.

Hell yeah! I loved this movie way back in the day. I think I even rented it twice from Blockbuster video!!

I actually love the helicopter scene the way it’s done, with Bale not believing Van Zan when he told them he and his guys flew across the Atlantic … then the helicopter flies in to land, leaving them in complete disbelief.

Honestly the movie aged better than most others released at this time. Always impressed and remember this movie fondly when it came out.
