“A menu you’ve never seen before..” - exactly. 😂

6:48 The easiest way to heal injuries outside of finding other players if you've unlocked Kaifeng is to go to the bath house near velvet shade and bathe in the waters. Especially if you have some time to kill. Bathing in the waters for a period of time will give you increased benefits like HP buffs and if you bathe long enough, it will also cure your illnesses

Don't use clinic it gets too expencive. Use world chat healers.

6:15 finish the main path before you do side branches, this gets you more vitality for using abilities in battle. there are more oddities than there are upgrades.

The assist deflect is almost necessary because the attack tells are insubstantial by design. Contrarily to other action games, glinting doesn't tell the timing for the parry, it just notifies that a powerful attack has been started, and a successful deflection will be particularly devastating if you succeed. In other words, you have to guess the attack pattern of each mob and boss; which is what you normally do in soulslike, but here, BY DESIGN, tells are completely misleading.

For example, the very first tutorial boss swings his scythe at you traversing your hitbox once without dealing any damage, to attack you at the second swing without any tell. So, don't feel like a noob if you use it to learn the patterns, because they work differently from any other soulslike.

Also, most soulslike have a parry that becomes "perfect parry" if activated at the last moment; that's not how it works here. Here you have parry and deflection, and they work differently (on different keys). Parry halves the damage only, but it's necessary to resist some special attacks and build some buffs. Deflection negates the damage, but lasts only .10 seconds; so if the damage doesn't arrive in that window, you receive all of it. Also, it usually doesn't build any buff, but if successful, it will either reduce the enemy stamina (Sekiro style) or, if deflecting a strong attack, will unleash a devastating counterattack automatically.

In boss fights, about 70% of the damage comes from deflections. In many souls like, parrying is enough if your damage is high, and perfect parry just opens the timing for you to use an attack (hence, your attack output must be good); here, the deflection IS the counter-attack, and the vast majority of your DPS output.

So, learning the patterns is both more difficult and more crucial than in any other soulslike, and the assist is basically the only on-screen tell for the timing of an attack.

This logic seems to come from Age of Wushu, the predecessor (at least spiritual) of this game, where the combat was based on a rock-paper-scissors schema: you had direct moves, parry and parry-breaks. Land a direct move on a parry and you'll deal some damage but give the opponent powerful buffs; but break their parry with a parry-break and you'll give them heavy debufs. Try to land randomly a parry-break just to see if you can catch them in a parry, and any direct move will get through, dealing full damage to you and nothing to them. In this game, they maintained the centrality of the parry in the game logic, with deflections being high-risk/rewards moves and basically the main way to deal damage.

It's a game that really takes soulslike combat-style in a different, fresh direction (Yeah, you can see I love it :).

One thing I noticed is that you don't really have to have Veil of Stillness to get into the  Skill Theft areas, as it will activare anyways. I went to get the Panacea Fan way before getting the Veil skill, and I became invisible anyways. I only got the Veil at lvl 60 by chance xD

One of the biggest things with oddities is getting all the way to the last node, so you can get the bell piece, fix/ring the bell, and debuff the world bosses. Thx for the video.

You make more than enough to get the inner way notes, the upgrade mats, and the gear.

Remember that you need gear of lower levels for your arsenal. You DO want to be getting potent and tuned gear for exactly that purpose.

The other way to heal injuries/illness, you can go to the same clinic location but in multiplayer. Lotta players in Silver Needle sect looking to grind out some likes.
And for that last point about accupoints, it also comes up for a few bosses to interrupt some of their moves and knock 'em on their asses. But also, in Kaifeng, one of the mystic arts you can get in town out of a fairly random sidequest, you get a variant that hits a group of enemies. It's mostly been rogue monks that have the locked Qi meters, and it does pop all of them at once. This is very handy in some of the time trials. Not just for them either, I mean, it's an area control/damage thing, and odds are good for it immobilizing at least one foe. ^_^

the easiest way to heal is go anywhere with tons of people in multiplayer and someone will come up and heal you for free within a minute or so, easiest place is to go to that clinic shown and just switch to MP instead of talking to her.

Holy sh*t I've been playing the game in ultra hard mode. I completely missed out on the oddities thing. Could've helped cut down on HOURS of trying to beat a single boss. 🤦‍♂ And I diligenty collected every single one of them I encounter not knowing what they're for. Thought they'd come in handy at some point.

Thanks so much for the recycling tip. Wasn't sure what to do with all the lower level gear and was afraid that it will be wasted if I straight up recycled them

Panacea = Pan-uh-see-uh

I started this on legend and I was so shit at the game at start, but then I met wolf maiden and died countless times but that made me learn how to play 😭. I am now great at combat😭😭

I learned something new thanks!! I had no idea about the blue bar and breaking it with miridian touch, thanks dude.

Dude says to make sure to open your chests in your bag but forgot to mention not to open the skill breakthrough mat chests until you need them. Last thing you need to do is open 15 boxes and choose pearls just to later want to break through a martial art and need feathers.

If you are new, watch it FR. Nice guide ! I just dropped on your video and watched it with 90hours in the game already. Didn't learned anything new, but new players should definitivly watch it. Great advices ;)
The only thing i would change is ask for a player healer (in the same menu he showed us) instead of going to clinic. Save money ;)

Great video there is so much to learn and get use to in the game

I can't tune 51 gear with 41 mats, so why not recycle 41 gear to save space
