I heard a woman say on YouTube yesterday that his "name should have never been on a memorial to a dead president for the same reason you wouldn't put your name on someone else's headstone." Such a perfect response.
Members of Congress should have to wear a jacket with patches of all their corporate donors, wealthy donors, other countries especially AIPAC while they are working as an elected member of Congress for all to see.
One thing that didn't get mentioned is that yesterday a judge ordered the restoration of the National Parks plaques that Trump had taken down about slavery, climate change, etc. 🎉
I will watch the honoring Melissa and Mark Hortman who was killed on the 14th of June last year. She was a special person in the Minnesota government. So please honor her and her husband's memory tomorrow.
Regarding the letters coming off the Kennedy Center, I stayed up to the very end hoping to see a letter come down. Then the drape went up. That's ok. A curtain cannot contain or hide my joy because I know his name is gone. Love your podcasts. ❤
Robert Reich and Heather Lockhart just talked about this and I think she put it very well: that the Trump Administration is stamping its signature on the 250th birthday of the nation not with ideals about freedom and Democracy, but with this macho spectacle.
It is what Nietzsche termed "the worship of the oily muscle." This celebration of brute macho force is the choice of fascists everywhere.
I'm particularly outraged about this regime using our public land for its own benefit! Oil roads in Alaska, kicking buffalo off land set aside for them by conservation groups in order to graze more cows, opening everything up to more ATV access when there's already millions of acres set aside for that, and, of course, making sure every national park has at least one oil well in it I guess. And now they are opening the Pacific Ocean reserve to commercial fishing! WHY! Nobody needs any of these things, a huge majority oppose it, probably only a couple billionaires asking for all of it.
"Could this administration bulldoze the Statue of Liberty without asking permission?" "Yes." <-government lawyers this week
Just want to add about SpaceX IPO: Unlike Nasdaq, which bends the rules for Elon Musk, the SP500 refuses to bend the rules. We don't want the inflated SpaceX IPO to be pushed and mixed into the index fund where working class save and invest for their retirement. We still have hope because the SP500 refuses it. Please call Congress to pressure the SEC to do its job.
I still remember when there was a billoard in Florida in 2008 that showed a live countdown of the remaining time George W. Bush would be in office. I would love to see one for Trump with a countdown to his last day of the presidency.
