Alan Rickman knows exactly what movie he is in. It’s the most joyous delivery of a villain you will ever see. This movie is peak the 1990. The song was everywhere.

The way Marion screams “ROBIN!!!” when she sees he’s alive always sticks out in my mind, like that actress seriously put everything into that, almost a primal scream 😱

Before Titanic brought us that Celine Dion song that played everywhere for a good while, there was Prince of Thieves and Bryan Adams lurking around every corner

"Why a spoon cousin?"
"'Cause it's dull you twit, it'll hurt more!"

This sort of thing is why Rickman was a total legend.

I still get soggy eyed when the old man stands up for the boy when they are about to be executed and still has the humanity in him to ask if the boy is “alright” moments before certain death. Still moves me.

The actor playing Nottingham's cousin is Michael Wincott, and he's known for having a gravely voice.
He's also in The Crow, The Three Musceteers, Alien Resurrection, and the live action Ghost in the Shell.

"AND CALL OFF CHRISTMAS!"

In the director’s cut, the witch Mortiana is revealed to have been spying from the walls on the sheriff and pretending to know certain things through witchcraft. Later she tells the Sheriff that she is his real mother.

I swear, in the 90's they'd just mash little pieces of multiple genres together, and call it an adventure movie!  I kinda miss those days...

Alan Rickman was giving free reign to perform the character as he wished. When he won the BAFTA for supporting actor, he said “may this always be a reminder that subtlety isn’t everything.”

The irony about Costner’s accent is that the English accent as we know it didn’t exist that far back.

"Why a spoon cousin, why not an axe or a sword?"
"BECAUSE ITS DULL YOU IDIOT, IT'LL HURT MORE!!"

Is it accurate to the lore? no.
Is Costner believable as a english lord? nay.
Is it full of talent and fun as hell? Oh Yes!
The 90's movies...

59:03 Not just a trailer shot, the GOAT of all movie posters

F for the sycamore gap tree :(

Sean Connery played Robin Hood in 1976 in a film called Robin and Marian

the Sycamore Gap tree RIP. 😭 over 120 yeas old and destroyed by vandals 7:11

The Cousin with the voice is the villain the The Crow and one of the mercenaries in Alien Resurrection.   The actress played as Maid Marian played as the co-star in The Abyss and as Gina Montana, Tony Montana's sister in The Scarface.

"...And call off Christmas." 😂

This movie has like 0% historical accuracy, but it's a lot of fun. And as a child of the 90s, this was a VERY formative movie for me. The fighting/training montage, and the parts with all of the forest booby traps and treehouses and stuff.....Super influential in the woodsy games we played as kids.
