Can't find Sony stuff in these days ....so sad they are gone 😮

Those older Sony receivers are nice sounding I bet .That when Sony made quality stuff I'm sure it solid state not tubes .it could be Hybrid tube solid state. It looks fabulous and Ive never heard one I she sounds good.

The 6036 should get a quick nod here. I haven't had a 6050 through here but a couple of 36's and they were quite similar. Might be sharing some pcb's even. Once serviced, I was impressed with alot of what you touched on. Sonically warm and full. A little slow for techy metal or electrowhatever but The Stooges sounded right at home. Piano jazz with female vocals was dreamy smooth. ARGH the dreaded power switch!

I definitely like the looks of this unit. Much nicer looking than my SX-6000 from a couple of years later.

Ido have the  wood case for my 6055 I loved

There is STR-6065 which I have , above the 6050 .

STR-60XX wood case TAC-5E,  STR-70XX wood case TAC-1N.  TAC-1N will fit STR-60XX  also

Nice review. how this unit compares to the 6060 /6055  strictly by sound quality and power capability ? your comment on bass performance is interesting because some say that 6050 has a deeper bass than 6060.  also i saw somewhere that real power of 6050 is 40 rather than 30 watts.
