Barnaby not getting along with anyone on or off the ice is the most believable part of the story

Let’s get Barnaby and Hasek in the same interview together.

After watching a few different clips of Barnaby, I've come to the conclusion that he hates a lot if people 😂

The Dominator single handedly helped win an olympic gold in 1998, insane.

What's lost in all this is that Dom gave so much to the community here in Buffalo.

Funding Hasek's Heroes in my neighborhood at Bud Bakewell Rink for underprivileged kids to play (myself included) visited countless kids in hospitals with gifts and signed items in tow, but never asked for any cameras or publicity for it all.

He came to my elementary school back in 98 and I got him to sign my Bauer goalie helmet (the same one he wore) and I told him as a 7-year-old aspiring goaltender that he was my hero. Will never forget that smile he showed all these years later.

Bad teammate in the locker room? Very possible

Greatest athlete in Buffalo sports history?
Absolutely.

Listening to Barnaby here, I think I could not stand being his teammate for 24 hours.

As a Hockey fan, Love hearing these inside scoops!!!

The Ted Nolan Sabres were so much fun to watch. I never cheered and laughed so much in my life and Barnaby was a huge part of that.

Gretzky said it too. When asked who the best PLAYER he ever played against, he didn’t even name a player, he named a goalie. Dominik Hasek. When the best to ever do it says that. There isn’t even a debate. And not only that, his stats back that all up. Nobody else’s stats are even in the same realm. Not to mention he was playing in the highest scoring eras.

Hasek being the best goalie ever is absolutely correct and stats prove it. You can even notice Patrick Roy stops winning Vezina's after Hasek comes in. His style and phylosophy behind what seemed disorganized style of play is applied today 10fold with the only difference being adding control post save to the modern goalie style. He was trying to put any part of his body as close as possible to the puck to cut angles. This is used today more than ever with goalies being 6'4 and modern butterfly or RVH being teached.

interesting stories as usual guys...👍

Hasek's prime overlapped at the exact same time as Roy & Brodeur, and Hasek won 6 Vezinas & 2 Harts. Those other guys won more Cups because hockey is a team sport, but the individual acumen of Hasek will never occur again in our lifetimes. He made a save of the year candidate in every single game, just absolutely ridiculous stuff night in and night out. They would routinely got outshot 35-20 but win 2-1 anyway over and over for years

Agree. Dominator best by far. His Olympics win was insane

Being from Philadelphia, Them Flyers Vs Sabres in the Playoffs were some unbelievable series!! Miss them days

We, in Czechia, know about Hasek stubbornness. He is like Buffalo 🙂, if he put something in his head, you cannot stop him. Great trait for perfomance, bad for relationships.

I met Dom in a grocery store on my lunch break. He was so skinny but he was big- Could tell he was in shape. He was a gentleman when I approached him. Nice guy

We all work with people we can't stand, regardless of how good they are. With Barnaby, he's the type where its one or the other. You either like him, or heyt him.

Awesome interview!!

Matthew Barnaby always reminded me of Bababooey from Howard Stern show.

I love listening to stories told by these retired NHL players. As a fan, you never hear about what goes on 'behind the scenes'. It's great when these players open up and tell it like it was.
