This $15 Sand Battery Heats Any Cabin All ...
In 1948, a physicist named Maria Telkes filled metal drums with a ten-dollar bucket of Glauber's salt and heated an entire house through a New England winter with zero electricity, zero gas, and zero moving parts. The physics was bulletproof. NASA still uses it. But the heating industry had other plans, and this technology vanished from every American home—except the Amish farmhouses where it's been quietly working ever since. I'll show you exactly what it is, why it disappeared, and how to use it to heat any room for almost nothing.

Answers to the questions you're all asking:
• Thickener = attapulgite clay or CMC (carboxymethyl cellulose), 5–10% by weight.
• Borax = 3–4% by weight. It's the nucleating agent, it makes the salt freeze on time.
• Salt = Glauber's salt / sodium sulfate decahydrate, 40–80 lb per room. Buy it as "sodium sulfate" from a chemical or pool supply, $1–2/lb in bulk. The "$10" is a starter bucket, not 80 lb at retail.
• No basement needed — a sunny window or the side of your stove is enough.
