Happy Monday everyone! Another looooong awaited reaction and another instance of you guys not missing lol. I feel very fortunate that I get to be put on early before she pops because after hearing KGB, I don't see this trend from The Provocateur slowing down. Condensed, focused, and pop in it's most distilled form while getting some personality for ADÉLA, it's all someone can ask for a first project.

knowing she's a dancer beforehand and not reacting to music videos is criminal 😔

what i love about adela is that her music and image does not come across as pretentious or being edgy for the sake of being edgy. it feels real and earned

13:34 SOTB is actually a direct challenge to the music industry's pressure on women to s*xualise themselves in order for them to gain success, its definitley the most risque song on the album. Amazing to see that the EP's overall message is about challenging and standing up to the industry, even though she is only just entering it. It's bold, risky, and provocative. Nobody is doing it like ADELA!

the message of the album hits harder when you know the context. she was eliminated first during the reality show where Katseye was formed, and the show edited her as a villain and so toxic fans bullied and harassed her ever since then

26:15 first 3 songs: homewrecked (debut), superscar and machinegirl were released independently before she got signed to capitol records

glad she did not make it to katseye cause we won’t ever hear her release the banger that is sexonthebeat if she did

she competed in the show to make katseye, was one of the top performers, but when it changed to public vote she was the first eliminated.

With “finally apologizing” ADÉLA was on the game show that made katseye and was eliminated first round, after she got eliminated she was showing her frustration with Manon because manon missed a lot of rehearsals and people flamed her for it, this song was basically showing that she is not sorry and people don’t know the whole story and ADÉLA and Manon are on good terms now

love love LOVE that people are catching on to adela. she’s currently on tour opening for demi lovato and funny enough, has beat out katseye in performing at stadiums.

both machinegirl and finally apologizing are referencing experiences documented on the pop star academy documentary that built katseye. adela was one of the leading figures calling out manon and the fact that fans were voting more for her than girls who are working their asses off when (at that point in time) manon wasn’t interested in the slightest in training. she was the first girl eliminated out of the final 20. she got a LOT of hate for calling out manon’s lack of work ethic and speaking on the frustration it caused within the other 19 girls seeing her voted so highly by fans. “yell at the machine girl” is a direct call to the fans hating HER instead of the HxG training camp that spent over 2 years training the girls only to practically beg manon to agree to doing dream academy and continuously favour her over the girls who worked for their spots.

sexonthebeat isn’t a song that’s about loving being sexual, it’s about being forced into it in order to sell records. once you pay closer attention to the lyrics (and also the MV) that becomes a LOT clearer. she loves being sexual, but the song is a call to the industry for hypersexualizing women to sell records despite the artists’ wishes.

deathbydevotion is a song about ballet, she was a professional ballet dancer (trained in london and vienna before quitting to focus on her truer dream). the message is about how dancers literally kill themselves to be perfection, all w a smile on our faces.

homewrecked is performed as an acoustic live and you get to see her powerhouse vocals in that. she sings those backing vocals, its perfect and you honestly need to see it.

The drops on this album are crazyyy. And the sound on Go, FinallyApologizing and SexOnTheBest are so addicting. It's so cool that she has decided to express her feelings about her journey and the industry in this explosive way.

I have history in ballet and gymnastics and god i relate to so many of adelas songs sex on the beat genuinly had my eyes watering the first time i watched it her music and music videos are so fuckin expressive its actually crazy

I love Adéla so much lmao she grew up in Slovakia as started ballet at 3, started learning English through American media when she was 8, and decided she wanted to become an artist watching Hannah Montana. She took the opportunity with HxG to move to LA for the Dream Academy program and despite being one of the most talented contestants and most popular among the other contestants and staff of DA, she was voted off very early for ranking low in popularity, since DA painted her as the "Evil Slavic woman" after being voted off, she spent some time contemplating her artistic direction and debuted with Homewrecked, which she wrote with her own experiences with grappling with her father's infidelity in her parents relationship. A little over a month later, she released Superscar, which is more of a take on the industry and the requirement for women to sell every part of themselves for success (and her acceptance of that). Grimes caught wind of it and liked it so much she reached out to express her interest in working with Adéla, which is how she produced Machine girl. Then Adéla signed to her record label (prior to which she was working independently) and released The Provocateur. I am so hoping for a full album this year, and I really hope KGB is on it because it's definitely (in my opinion) one of the most interesting ones in her discography (in a good way!)

Late to the video but I'm so shocked she was seen as a "mean girl" throughout the entire documentary series on Netflix. To me, she was shown to be nothing but hardworking and kind to the other trainees she literally help practice and teach the lowest scored girl. And even though they didn't speak the same language she worked with her and tried to help regardless. Then they both got eliminated first but thank God because Adela flourishes as a soloist
