The dehumidifier feature is really useful when living in a vehicle or small RV in the rain or wet weather.

I love that you admit you like to sleep in 66F. Our HVAC guy looked at me like I was whacked for wanting it cooler than 72F in our house. I was like it is my house. Just make it happen.

this video is a benchmark for this kind of video. no fluff, no going on and on about how your day has been, all the things that you've been working on, etc. I don't object to "personal video diaries" but if your title says "review ..." then by gosh REVIEW THE PRODUCT. details about your life can be added at the END of the video if that's something you just HAVE to include.
this video starts right off with useful info and that continues thruout the video.
I am looking for a portable AC for my RV and I only wish everyone doing these product reviews did them like this one.
alas, that is seldom the case.
but I'm glad THIS one was like that!
keep up the great work.

My $200 5,000 btu Walmart window ac unit I installed in my van is portable, sort of. It goes everywhere I go. I have been traveling the US full time in my van for 2 years so far, and it has worked very well. It is powered by my solar panels. I enjoy your channel and your very detailed product testing.

Very helpful and honest review! Thank you HOBOTECH!!

I like the idea of flipping it around for heat/cool. I think that simplifies the system the others like the EcoFlow Wave does which is reverse the flow of the refrigerant / compressor system so that heat is in front or cold is in front.

We love our Bouge RV AC/DC refrigerator/freezer! Phenomenal job for the price. Looking forward to testing the 3500 air conditioner on the boat!

I appreciate your product testing. Thank you!

I would 3D print a hose shroud for the lower vent, attach that with gaffer's tape, and turn it into a 2 hose portable. Also, if they had a mode to just be always on, disconnecting the thermostat, then it would be a lot more useful as a heater/heat pump.

Really good review, seems like a decent product at a good price point. I live off-grid in southern Alabama in a 17 foot Casita and I just use a cheap 5000 BTU window unit to cool my camper down. I have it plugged into a Pecron 3600 watt power station and the Pecron gets recharged by 1200 watts of solar. I keep this AC unit set on the lowest settings and its only drawing 267 watts. I do have two portable gas generators to help when it's cloudy out....

WAY overdue that these tiny 2000-3000 btu ACs came out, it's not new technology and most of us need something that will run on under 350 watts and cool down like 40-80 square feet. What's insane is that these little $100 micro AC units are selling for $400-$900. How can 2 dozen companies sell a 5000 btu AC that will cool down 175 square feet for $130 brand new with a warranty and these little plastic pieces of garbage cost $400+? These need to come down in price 75% in a hurry to make it worthwhile. For me, 2,500 Btu at 300 running watts for under $200 is the sweet spot.

A strategy I use to maximize the AC is to turn the unit on in the morning before it gets hot inside... it gives the AC unit the ability to keep the temp low instead of trying to get down to temp. If you want to nerd it up a bit you can use any internet connected smart home system to pull the weather forecast and manage your HVAC for you... HOME ASSISTANT HOME ASSISTANT HOME ASSISTANT!!!

I like it. I hope to see more devices like this in the future. I'm not ready yet for this though. Still, it's amazing that in the future a 1:1 trade off on solar vs an air conditioner is actually possible.

Thank you! I stopped the moment you said: No DC. Love your vids just the same

@michaelc6446 2 months ago

Thank you for the great review. You covered all the stuff I was curious about. It seems like a decent AC unit but I need something with a little more cooling power
