They cannot experience joy, so they get their kicks out of destroying yours. This is yet another way they control you.

1. Lack of fear
2. Manipulative
3. Long game campaigns against a target
4. Telling horrific lies
5. Sadistic
6. Grooming of vulnerable people
7. Emotions are performative. If they "cry' eyes are dry.
8. Relentless in efforts to control and dominate
9. Transactional. If they suddenly feel they no longer have anything to gain from you then they will ignore, discard ghost you until they see something they want from you.
11. Authentic Pro social empathic behavior is missing. They will not regret or feel remorse or have any interest in addressing and repairing the damage they do to others.
12. Hold serious lifelong grudges over trivial matters including slights or flaws in others.

This helped me identify this sort in the community.

I also think another reason why people don’t believe or understand when you try to explain about a dark personality is because unless you are a victim, it is almost unfathomable. We are taught that everyone has some good in them . The realization of these dark people amongst us once you have been a target is life altering . I remember reeling for weeks about the fact that they exist, and they all have the same patterns . This evil cannot be unseen, and once encountered you will never see the world with the same eyes again.

I like Dr. Mitchell's idea of using the term "predator" or "dark personality", rather than getting into all the different categories and sub-categories. Narcissist, sociopath, psychopath, anti-social personality, and all the other categories/classifications aren't really all that important. For me, all I really need to know is that these types of personalities, whatever label you want to give them, are DANGEROUS, and I don't want to have anything to do with them!
So many years of my life have been lost to these dark personalities, and I am now learning how to see the warning signs, so I can protect myself from getting involved with them. Or, if they succeed in fooling me for a time, how to extricate myself from the relationship entanglement ASAP!

Wow my stomach dropped when she said their eyes go black. This is exactly what happened the last time I saw my ex. We were sitting on the sofa and over a few hours he became increasingly aggressive, raising his voice and eventually his arm and he seemed to be getting energised on scaring me. His eyes went black and I suddenly realised that I wasn't safe, I didn't realise at the time that I was in an abusive relationship. I managed to get out of his house and went no contact. I have never heard anyone talk about their eyes like that before, I'm so glad she shared this as it validates something that was so surreal to see. I strongly believe the reason this is not talked about or taught in schools is because society is run by these people, they are often in positions of massive power and wealth and they don't want everyone being able to identify the reality of who they are.

This lady really gets it. Thank you for having her on, Brad. Her comment about the force of their brutality and our shock at it conforms to my own experience. The isolation part is especially significant. She gets it that 10% are like this. In my seventy three years I have had four of them, each with no knowledge of the other, go to war against me. In my view these people are the equivalent of murderers. And the sadism! It's stunning. They are complete creeps. I can't wait to read this lady's book.

Grooming needs to be exposed more thoroughly. This is one of the most disturbing things to watch- seeing an abuser virtue signaling and fooling anyone they interact with- but it’s important to acknowledge that the dark personality virtue signals, convinces other people of their “goodness,” they are also unconsciously convincing themselves they are actually a good person.

It is so difficult and also creepy to see the evidence of their sadism, especially when you have trusted the person you believe they are. It's can be very undermining of your trust in yourself and your own discernmemt.

When you see the "black eyes" of a predator you never forget it. It is terrifying. These predatory people also waste a ton of time in organizations. They obstruct actions, target people who are more talented than they are, and basically rob the organization of positive growth. You are absolutely correct that sadism is involved. They get off on hurting other people.

I really appreciate you summarizing the attributes these dark personalities carry. In the psychological profession I believe there are dark personalities, who have deliberately tried to keep these realizations from becoming common knowledge.

It's hard to accept that someone would INTENTIONALLY hurt me. I did not want to believe it. But after one thing after another you finally have to face that these abusive actors are deliberate. They intend to hurt you. Once I realize this I work hard to remain calm around the predator.

I never give predators the satisfaction of being reactive. Instead I remain calm, hold my ground, state my case and refuse to be manipulated by them. I keep my eye on the prize of what needs to happen and not let them obstruct things. Predators hate it when we remain calm and non-reactive. It's actually funny to watch their frustration. I have seem them lose their shit in front of everyone in a meeting because my calm steadiness pissed them off.

I left a “dark personality” four years ago but I still have moments when I listen to interviews like this to remind myself why I left and that I hit bottom not because there was something wrong with me but because I was being lied to, gaslit, future faked on an almost daily basis. It’s taken four years to get “me” back after 17 years of trying to figure out how to fix our relationship. I lost track of the number of times I left and got hoovered back in. One thing that really hit home about this video was when Karen said they have no fear. It boggled my mind how my ex could blatantly lie to other people (I chose to believe he wouldn’t lie to me for years) and never worry about getting caught. I’d be a nervous wreck especially when I had been witness to a lie and I worried I would appear complicit but he’d just calmly come up with another lie to clear anyone’s doubts. On occasions when I called him on a lie, if I didn’t back down, he would first rage at me then go completely silent till I apologized and acknowledged I was wrong. And yet I couldn’t leave because I wasn’t sure he was capable of being “that evil”. My biggest regret is the loss of years to a losing battle and the loss of “me”. I can’t imagine ever allowing myself to get close to another man. Ever.

Normal folk don’t bring gifts and “I love you’s” , then a few hours or minutes later, are screaming at you that you’re trying to destroy them, and only concerned about yourself because you asked them to wipe their feet or remove their workboots before entering the home.

I’ve experienced a couple of narcissists. First they love bombed me. Then they started to control and manipulate me. Then they sought to hurt me by lying about me when they found I wasn’t so controllable. These were regular people, not criminals. But their behavior was very distinctive.

Nobody believes you about an abuser unless they know how to spot it/ been through similar experiences. Why videos like this are so validating. Just trust your instincts. Feeling off about someone could mean you're catching onto their true intentions. If their emotion always seems to take too much effort, BIG red flag (RUN!).

I find the idea of focusing on predatory behavior, rather than 1:23:54 trying to analyze the predator, deeply helpful on a personal level. Very freeing. Just accept, on evidence of a pattern of behavior, that some people are truly, entirely, self serving. It simplifies everything. I have to relinquish the natural assumption that everyone has a conscience. Evil truly exists, and I don't have to humor or appease it.
