#TheVictimsOfPabloEscobar | Family and close friends remembered Bernardo Jaramillo Ossa, a jovial politician who had emerged as a beacon of hope in the fight against the drug cartels. Jaramillo Ossa was assassinated at the Puente Aéreo airport in Bogotá, as he was about to travel with his wife to the north of the country. Later, Colombia would mourn another socio-political figure: Carlos Pizarro León Gómez. A man who proposed peaceful solutions to the difficult situation to which the Medellín cartel had subjected Colombia. Pizarro was assassinated by a young hitman aboard an airplane in mid-flight. His death shocked Colombia, which watched as the hand of the mafia, once again, robbed it of a glimmer of peace and a hope of emerging from that dark era.
