We have just bought the classic. It has a free thermal liner, security alarm, and security bolts. It is erected in 5 minutes and has gas struts so a gentle push and it’s up. Included is a memory foam mattress, magnetic lamp, and bags of storage. I have done my fair share of camping on the ground where it is lumpy and cold and in bad weather you risk losing your tent.
At my age now I want some comfort and although we are converting our transit custom van, sleeping inside the van would  feel too claustrophobic with 3 dogs!
Why people feel the need to be so critical of others just because they make an alternative choice is beyond me. Yes, it was expensive but no more than a decent foreign holiday and this is something that enhances our freedom.
I am not going to call people in a tent drop outs so why are we who choose a tentbox posers?
Can’t we all just be subjective, and live and let live? What has happened in this country to make people thinks it’s okay to be spiteful and abusive about other individuals choices?  
You like a tent or a caravan - that’s absolutely fine but for us, we wanted a tentbox and they are well made, warm, cosy and convenient and safer than a tent.

Down in Dorset last week and there was one of these set up about 2 pitch`s down from us . The wind and rain over night  was bad and i felt sorry for the young couple . The wind was so bad it even rocked our 3.5ton  motorhome ,yes it was the wind rocking us 🤣🤣🤣🤣👍👍

Interesting idea but l like the convenience of being able to leave the tent up &  go somewhere in the car then come back to it without having to put it up again.
I'm sure there are plenty of people who'll enjoy using this tent.

Enjoyed the video. It convinced me that buying one is a big investment for essentially a 2 man tent with no living space.

Olpro Pop Tent or similar, takes about two minutes to put up and peg down. More space, about 1/16 of the price and will easily fit under an olive tree in Croatia. Then I can get in my car and explore.

Or for longer stays an airbeam tent. Up in minutes, proper living room and black out bedroom. 1/4 of the price.

Or I could spend £1500 on something smaller than a bivvy, that means I can't go anywhere without dismantling the whole set up (and when I get back someone will have taken my pitch). My MPG will go through the roof and the car will drive like a tractor. Oh almost forgot, the night time pee inconvenience.

Decisions, decisions...

Just thinking about the static weight limit when using a removable roof bar system (Cruz). Would the extra weight of occupants damage the car roof? Car metal isn't as thick as it use to be!

It looks like it is easy to set up with practice ( as is true with most things). I am sure it has practical benefits, I just can't think what they would be. No chance of being flooded out...I would hope.
That being said, at my place of work we have a lot of contractors and I'm seeing more and more of these tents in the car park. I suppose it saves on hotel bills or lodgings.

This looks good for the price. I bought an IKamper. They are the more expensive roof top tent. Hardshell a d very well made.

I can see the benefit of them in the Outback - to keep you off the ground. There only seem to be disadvantages here in Blighty. I think the idea is that the Tentbox turns your car into a camper. It doesn't. Pre campervan I used to have an open rack on the roof and strap the hard, weather proof, gear on that and carry the tent in the car. The car is then easily converted back to being a car again - maybe even leave the rack on for the summer months and use it to carry other things when we weren't camping. The rack was easy to get on and off and easy to store, as was the tent ... which had a large bedroom, two entrances, a large interior sitting area and a porch.

The concept worked so well for me I bought a California Beach, feels like luxury in comparison…..plus you can set up a Thetford downstairs, not easy to find a convenient toilet at 3am when the bladder is full otherwise 😂

I'm usually road tripping and car camping is a reality for me. Having one of those would be a huge improvement

My concern would be the effect on handling of the car.  I would be interested if I drove a heavy van, but I suppose I could just kit out the inside .

I got the same,really a good tent,the quality of the fabrics is good. I have a higher car,there you struggle little bit more with the ladder when closing the tent and you need to push the ledder back together,but that only due to the hight of the car,more difficult to reach on top of the roof.
For the price it is a really good tent,there are more expensive ones and they got not much more features then this one.
