Early 2000's concept cars and prototypes take me back man, no type of nostalgia is more powerful tbh

I think a compilation of Clarkson Hammond and May mentioning each other on other shows would be cool.

So much of Rolls-Royce's concept ideas do come to life. Love that

3:00 "It looks like an Aston Martin"

Ford: "And I took that personally"

22:58 holy shit he did it, May saw our present times as future back then

There are 3 types of concept cars

The first are the kind that are so outlandish, futuristic and unrealistic or so expensive that you know they have no chance of ever being produced.

The second kind are the ones where some things might be unrealistic (such as cameras and screens instead of rear view mirrors) but the general characteristics of the car are grounded in reality. It's kinda 50/50 if these get produced, if they do usually a lot of the more fancy aspects are removed for production.

And the third type are the ones that are so normal or just modifications of existing cars that you just know it's coming to the dealerships next year.

5:31 the days when top gear’s studio comprised 20 or so 40/50 something blokes and the audience could get involved in opening the Zonda up.

3:46 - Richard Burns. Rally Legend. R.I.P

4:45 “going on sale in 2005” wow how far we surpassed that year

It just struck me how, in an alternate universe, if these guys had started out on YouTube, they'd be a complete menace at car shows.

Ironically the ford concept actually ended up becoming a mondeo.

"This could be the future" it was actually. Car companies use exactly the same systems today. 25 years later

7:31 oh wow the Cadillac Sixteen!! So many memories of this car in racing games

18:05 the little big planet music 🥲nostalgic

That was pretty damn good, and even way back to when Clarkson had an abundance of hair .

11:45 you gotta love that sarcasm in May's commentary

It’s sad some of these cars were never made. They are such fabulous looking and despite this being some 10+ years old they still look more futuristic than new cars of today.

0:58 “THAT IS DISGUSTING!”

That charger concept is way better than the charger we got.

Watching this show as new cars and concepts came out really made it feel like we were growing up with the changing of the times. I remember how impressive it was in 2004-5 to have that Lexus self park, when now tons of cars offer that as an option.
