Many of us don’t fail, because we don’t try.  Cheers, George.

Thank you for this amazing biography.  George Pickett ia a distant half cousin on my material grandfather's side.

This man will forever be one of our heroes

Pickett the type of guy at your work that constantly calls in sick, then has the nerve to tell you how to do your job as they f everything up

Pickett appears to have a traditional old English cavalier frame of mind evidently very popular in the South especially Virginia due to who settled it. Great courage and elan but little care about anything else.

Even though I am a huge Civil War buff, I never thought that I would see myself that interested in General Ewell or General Pickett, but I am now because of  History Gone Wilder.
These people are very complex, people like Pickett and Ewell, but I feel like HGW does a fair job of telling their story, right or wrong. A lot of these of so-called “minor” characters in history have more interesting lives than the heavy hitters do.
  Well done HGW. Well done.
Hopefully, you will do a video of the greatest regiment in the history of the world, that being the 24th Michigan of course.

Great videos!!!! Every one I learn more about history and who made it during the civil war  in 10 minutes then 4 years of school as a kid. Good job and keep more coming 👍👍👍I like the southern accent too. Easy to listen to

My ancestors fought alongside those of Armistead's and Garnett's as longbowmen in the retinues of the Lords Clifford, in northern Yorkshire, England.

Thank you for the excellent work! Please consider a work focused on General Ely Parker.  Thank you.

George Pickett achieved more in his life than most men ever have, or ever will; and YouTube historians call him a “failure.” Shame on you.

Hey man just want to say your videos are top notch

I live on Vancouver Island and have been to San Juan. s o beautiful.

Can you do a George Meade bio please?

thank you Dr Wilder for continuing to do these biographies of the generals of the Civil War.
i am made to think though, that there must be an individual soldier or two,
worthy of such a treatment, for whom enough documentation exists.

05:14 i wonder who the 5 cadets below him were…

I was stationed at Fort Pickett in Virginia. The fort which bears his name

Pickett could have taken back the super important port city in New Bern,N.C.and resupplied Lees whole Army.New Bern was a railroad hub too

Thoughts on Stephen Lang who played George Pickett in the 1993 Gettysburg movie? Nailed the person down?

From the accounts of Pickett's personality and behavior, I have to wonder if he had what would now be called Asperger's.  Regardless, I don't consider him to blame for the charge that bears his name, as that was an ill-advised decision by Lee.  Pickett WAS, however, responsible for being away from his post (as he had so often been over the years) at the Battle of Five Forks that broke the Confederate lines and led to their abandonment of Petersburg and Richmond, and to their surrender at Appomattox shortly afterward...

So would you label Pickett as that school boy who fails in school, but tries so hard to prove himself to the point he is out of place?

I agree with Martin Ambassador I know one of his direct descendants and it must be hereditary
