If you prefer the drip acclimatisation method and have floating plants add a few floaters to the container, this helps the shrimp against the stress of spending a few hours being dripped I find. Great video thanks for sharing.

I've watched lots of aquarium/fish videos over the past years because I've always liked them but never had the guts to actually get one myself. Recently talked with my mom about how I adore the look of cute little cherry shrimps in a green tank and she might have persuaded me into getting one for my 23rd birthday soon. This video was a nice encouragement, I always thought aquarium upkeep (especially for fish) was too high maintenance for me so a colony of shrimpies just seems too perfect!

I used water from my older tank and threw some of its bio media into a media bag into this little 10 gal.
Added fluval shrimp stratum. Added rocks and fresh plants.
I let it sit for about 2 weeks and put cherry shrimp. All 10 shrimp are alive and doing well. I have way too much biofilm on my wood… but they seem to be thriving. The water is slightly cloudy but I’m just going with the flow… 🦐😄

I've been an avid Betta owners for years and with the passing of my last guy months ago I've kept 2 - 5 gallon tanks going i.e. filtrations, heaters, live plants, snails, bio substrate, water checks/changes etc. looking for something new. Found your channel about a month ago, got your book and so grateful for all the info in it and here! Tank water is balanced and ready to go, will be purchasing some Neos shortly Many Thanks again

Ok I’m blazed so this might be a stupid observation. When you were talking about the aeration from the filter, the water surface movement. You were looking up. Like you yourself were a shrimp in a tank looking up towards the surface. I thought that was neat. To understand the shrimp on a deep level you put yourself in the shrimp’s position. Shrimp whisperer

This video should be watched by every shrimp keeper.

richard, although lights dont affect breeding rate, or shrimps' health. they help us enjoy the shrimps and actually help us see their true colors, so it would be easier culling them. As an example, dark green jades, they show their pigments in bright lights.

Great video (as always), Richard, thank you. I've battled to get levels right in my tank but I finally think I'm there and have my first batch of baby blood mary shrimp which are about 4 weeks old. I can't wait for them to breed, and for a colony to grow. Your videos have taught me a ton, and for that I am very thankful.
