I've grown to prefer rice hulls in place of perlite. If you can find them, they tend to be cost effective and provide excellent drainage. I recommend the big 40 lb bags (18 kg) for best value. Unlike perlite, they degrade over time.

Also if we use this mix for our 10-12 inch pots for our vines wont it be too expensive ?

Can I use this soiless potting mix for houseplants?  How to give this soiless potting mix the right nutrients?

Very good video. I wish I found this 5 years ago when I tried and somewhat succeeded in growing tomatoes and Brinjal... But since I live in Bangalore where the summer temperature is around 30 degrees Centigrade ( my terrace doesn't have shade net) I did end up getting ok ok results. Do you do any additional cooling to the nutrient mix or do you see it work in 30 degrees as well?

Is ready made potting mix good enough ?
But if we make add these two mixes you are talking about for a 12 inch wide and 9!inch tall pot we will need a lot right?
Same for a 14inch pot and 12 inch high we will need a lot.
Isnt premade potting mix better if we just add perlite to it?

I am struggling with finding the right well draining potting mix for my vines grown in pots in my apartment.
I do not have access to garden soil.
So i buy 10kgs sack of premade potting mix(don’t know actually how much of the organic stuff they say it contains actually is in it)
I have tried adding lots of perlite and of late have added orange construction sand (called bajri in the north)to improve drainage .
Dont know if it is working.
It just makes my potting mix heavier and dries at the surface and I do not know what is happening inside the pot.
1) should i continue using premade potting mix?
If yes what do i add to it to make a smooth well draining soil for my 10-12 inch terracota pots/plastic pots?

Pls advise since im stumped and worried about the water getting clogged

Lastly another question related to my japanese honeysuckle in a pot.
Many of its leaves(not all) keep turning dark brown at the edge and some are just crisp and dying. Rest remain green and maybe later one by one keep turning brown
Have tried pesticide,repotted with premade potting mix and perlite mix. Please advise
OR DO i just use cocopeat and perlite ? What about manure?
