i bought a old acro wing, which is extremely responsive to inputs, that means also to wrong inputs and went to the desert to practice ground handling in 30kph winds on flat sand for many days. that was the best training for me
People that are interested is paragliding should definitely hear the message of ground handling, of practice, you absolutely can learn on the ground, and should,, practice practice practice ,, fall in love with practice and your reward will be confidence, and a new sensation, the art of flight
With light or semi-light wings ground handling is even not boring but fun. It is true when you see pilots at take off that many of them are not practicing ground handling. How can you be confident at take off then in the air if you are not confident on the ground because you do not fully master the wing? Without deep knowledge and confidence of and in your wing how can you perform in XC flights when you are flying in unknown areas and hard to predict air?
Hi Greg :) thank you ! following where and when ever i can after you contact as a new beginner pilot (~50h of flying ) can you please elaborate on the GH conditions to practice on, what drill you think are essential to perfect for take-offs ? flying in turbulence conditions?
my mind, each pilot sets up his horizon or frontiers. I have a clear basic simple rule, I fly only if the conditions over all switch on a clear click in my brain, yes , I can manage this condtions. id no, I don´t fly, very simple. This rule strictly used, I am flying for 37 years without a heavy accident. And appropriate I fly a wing that is based on my path of flying..
