There is a story in my family (I'm now 3 generations removed from the original events) that Butch Cassidy and my Great Grandfather Charles Parker were friends.  Since our name and Butch's actual last names are Parker they pretended they were cousins. Great Grandpa Parker's spread was in Kanarraville UT.  Butch and his "friends" would occasionally stay in Kanarraville to rest overnight and such. One time Grandpa got up in the morning to find that Butch and them had gone but also gone was Grandpa's sheep dog. Grandpa said he was going after them to get his dog back.  Great Grandma said, "Charles, you do realize that they are highwaymen don't you? Let it go."  Grandpa didn't let it go and went after them and found them that evening.  Supposedly the meeting went as follows. Grandpa "Hey Butch,  thought we were friends.  Why'd you take my dog?"  Butch, "We are friends.  That dog just followed us of its own accord." Grandpa, "We both know that dog didn't just follow you.  I don't want you coming around our place anymore."  Butch, "I'm sorry Charles."  Grandpa, "I don't want to hear it." Years later one of my grandfather's sisters (my great Aunt) was living in Los Angeles County and she says she saw Butch Cassidy come into church.  This would have been sometime in the 1920's . She recognized him as she had seen him as a young girl back in Kanarraville.  She approached him and said something like, "Butch is that you?"  He said, "Sssssh, I don't go by that name anymore.  Please don't tell anyone you've seen me."

Funny thing about the Pinkertons is they were often more brutal and criminal than the outlaws they were chasing.

Its a weird mystery. The "graves" of Cassidy and Sundance in San Vicente were exhumed in 1991 and DNA tests proved that Butch Cassidy wasn't buried there. A man known as William Phillips, a known an associate of Butch Cassidy and Sundance  wrote a book called "the bandit invincible" which detailed Cassidy's life. The same "William Phillips" then emerged in Spokane in 1920's, Washington where he owned a light engineering factory and made a very good living. The same William Phillips visited the west later in his career and he was instantly recognized by Cassidy's father and by his sister as Butch Cassidy himself, the theory being that after returning from South America, Cassidy assumed the identity of his old pal, William Phillips. Cassidy wrote the book and he also opened the factory posing as Mr Phillips.  There is a series of photographs, taken during Phillips holiday to Cassidy's old haunts in the 1920's that show Phillips/ Cassidy with his family. He knew locations, details and could remember family stories that only Butch himself could have known. Cassidy's sister was interviewed on TV in the 1960's and she swore that Butch Cassidy spent a holiday with her and their father in the 1920's. I seem to remember that DNA indicated that the two men buried in San Vicente were Sundance and Flat Nose Curry. Cassidy's real name was Parker so I don't suppose a third change would have been too difficult to live with.

There is evidence that both Butch and Sundance survived. The 2 American bandits who were identified as Butch and Sundance were identified as them by a friend . And that was the manager of the mine who had hired them and was friends with them, There was more than 1 pair of American Bandits down there in South America.

So many photos of Butch are not him and he never lived in the cabin.
The cabin wasn’t built until after he left home.

Wife and I stopped at Butch Cassidy's childhood home in Circleville, UT in April.  A small and spartan house.

Without cameras and video surveillance, it seems like it would be pretty easy to disappear back then. I think there was a lot more crime than we know about from back then

Butch Cassidy is my however-many great uncle. If he did come back, he never visited his family, or at least they never told anyone about it.

I like the comment, “Another 20 minutes I’ll never get back”.

How come Kurt Russell never played  Butch Cassidy when he's the literal ringer for the guy.

In 1901 butch and Sundance were serving in the US Marines in the Philippines,  there is a picture of them with their unit in the big blue book on the history of the Marines,,,😮🖖🤏

From what I've researched... there's only one man living today that met Butch Cassidy. His father introduced him to Butch. This man told me the story firsthand. I believe his enounter. I just need to have him record for me.

It’s amazing how many commentators are directly related to him.    It’s almost like 99% of them are pure lies

Stopped by the boyhood home on my way to Bryce Canyon.  It's a pretty area of Utah.

Met a member of the Longabaugh family. Asked him directly if the Sundance kid made it back to America. He was surprised I made the connection. He said the family was divided in their opinions about that issue. It appeared that he was a non-believer is his family members return to the US.

Thank you ❤

Thoroughly enjoyed your video. Truly Butch Cassidy and The Sundance Kidd. Were two outoaws whos final end is still a mystery. Rumours hage it they were not killed by the authorities in a final shootout. Hence this is why their legend lives on. 💪🙏

Thank you very informative

0:58 In the 1880's he broke into a store with air conditioning, that sold ice in a freezer outside, and had an aircompressor sitting outside.
