That's a mighty big building and price tag (over $330,000) for a 1 bedroom(ish), 1 bath ADU with no full kitchen, but to each their own.

I'm trying to figure out why this is being presented by "Tiny House Expedition" - my apartment would fit in there four times this is not tiny at all

For that price it should have atleast 2 bedrooms and 2 full baths. Kitchen area to small. This design would not be for me.

I was excited about the potential of this house. I wonder if the 2 foot high concrete foundation transfers a lot of cold, especially in the winter. The inside had the promise of big open area, but I found the stairwell seemed to overwhelm and shut down the entire space and dictate the remainder.

We don’t live in the same world. In my world, some people live on 30k a year and build Quonset hut homes because the can’t afford a mortgage.

Just wanted to make a correction as someone that watched because of the history of the structure “Quonset hut originated in 1941 at Quonset Point in Davisville, Rhode Island, where the U.S. Navy needed a lightweight, prefabricated building that could be shipped anywhere and assembled quickly”. That is RI not NJ we don’t do a lot as the smallest state so want to get credit when credit deserved. Great building idea!

There is a quonset hut near me thats been there 50+ years, through dozens of hurricanes and tropical storms. Its so long, its gotta be more than 80 feet long. Used to be a manufacturing warehouse back in the day. It still looks new and thats saying something for our harsh weather events in Florida.

lots of ignorant comments in the section indicating zero understanding of the benefits of a quonset shell system, nor the downfalls. But quite frankly, I'd take this over an overpriced stick build that requires absurd amounts of upkeep to keep operating efficiently any day. NTM, because the system utilizes arches, you get clear spans without the use of columns or beams everywhere. It's essentially a barndominium from a floorplan POV for a fraction of the price. Also, the shell can be erected in a quarter fraction of the amount of time as a traditional stick build. Teams that have done this before can put up the arches in less than a week. Many people have no idea how much this helps with construction time and money. Getting the shell up quickly is way more important than people think it is.

Great video great information, but it is really so difficult for me to continually hear people who talk in a question. They raise their voice at the end of statement and make it sound like a question. Drives me nuts to listen to.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't know much about wood materials or home-building, but that Lowes "radiata plywood" looks so pretty. I just KNOW there's an alternate universe right next to ours where that radiata plywood is marketed as super expensive for rich people (because of the swishy wood grain patterns) and the "expensive wood" that's in our universe is really affordable in their alternate universe and available for everyone at their local big box store. Prices really are so manufactured because that "cheap" wood looks better than those "fancy woods" that you see in rich people's homes on YouTube.

Recording and sound engineer here, lot of echo could be tamed with rock wool or other open insulation and then white or earth tone fabric covering for sections of walls, ceilings, etc.. id imagine that without it the entire house has the same conversation. Definitely a nifty concept.

You could add a toaster oven, an air fryer and some type of hot plate or induction cooktop plate. You’d have a fully functioning kitchen. The only drawback no full-size refrigerator. You could also add solar to power your very appliances and you could add a chest freezer to store extra food. The only drawback about this build you need to have bedrooms and bedroom space especially if you have a family that is growing

The idea of a “Long House” concept a (30x100x22) where you have an Indoor greenhouse/garden maybe a water feature and a play area, or simillar to the Courtyard Model with two or three modules.
