12:01 Josh Strife Hayes describing AI Slop roughly to 4 years before the AI creation epidemic started wasn't on my bingo card

"You can't just shrink the adult model and be all 'yeah that's a baby.' "

Minecraft: Intense sweating

It's interesting that they chose to use grey for their textureless models. Most Devs choose a Pink, Green, checker or other to help them notice when there's a texture issue.

Having played this game for about 2-3 hours, the takeaway vibe I got from it was "This feels like an MMO being played by characters in a movie written, directed, and starring people who have literally never played a video game before in their life, but have seen what other movies think an MMO is, and base their whole shit off that."

Combat progression... Goblins -> wolves -> skeletons -> werewolves -> tiny ferrets.

Yep makes perfect sense...

As a Linux gamer myself, I find it disappointing that I've been wasting my time in Star Wars The Old Republic when I could've spent it playing this high quality and immersive MMORPG for Linux.

What shocks me most is how these games manage to last enough for certain people to be of high enough level to be able to clown on you.

Executive: Build a MMO
Developer: What will it be about? What will you do in the game? What visual style do you want?
Executive: I told you MMO, MMO and MMO

"you could have the character hold up a news paper with eye holes cut out." I would... - love.- to see that in a game as a comedic version of stealth xD

"A game with no textures. What a bold move."
- Josh, 2021

The mysterious noises, BTW, sound like the kind of pure white noise you get when you play back a misencoded sample --- like it's actually an MP3 but someone told the game it was a WAV. Given the general level of quality here that might actually be the case.

17:53 I like how the ghost NPC is more invisible than your character model is when you drink an invisibility potion. They clearly know how to do translucent models, yet didn't feel it was necessary for the player. Nope, that's too important, better save it for an NPC.

<JSH> "The game cannot decide if I need to do a go talk to someone quest or a go kill x quest so it just combined them"
<The game> "Go talk to five wolves."

.... I'd play that.

Ive learned through MMO'S that Tab is actually an acronym that stands for "Target A Baddie"

I need this skill in real life

"This is a game made without love."

I think it looks like a game made by a tired student's college project. So, yes. I agree.

12:12 Josh casually predicting the future

So this is where all the Dobbies go when they're free.

11:58 He tried to warn us

"you could have had the character hold up a newspaper with eye holes cut out"
reminds me of Team Fortress 2.
when a Spy puts on a disguise, to look like someone on the other team, to his teammates it looks like he has just put on a crude mask with a picture of a face.
to the OTHER team he looks genuine, complete with a fake name above his head!

From my experience on working on a sound engine in the past, these loud noises right after loading might be related to the game trying to play a sound cue at a specific position in the world, without knowing the position of the player (the sound engine hasn't caught up yet). In this case, the engine does not know how loud it should play this sound, so it just defaults to 100% volume, blasting sound directly to your ears.
