Dude! This video like many others of yours could not have come at a better time! I have been rebuilding my first saw (200t) over the past few evenings to use in my small tree company in London Uk
The videos and knowledge you have shared has become invaluable! So thank you mate! 🤙
Thank you so much for putting this video up Tinman, I'm working on an 044 for a customer right now, it's a early model as well, and this is the most simple and easy video to understand and you go to show us that we don't need to go buy fancy tools but just use regular stuff we have laying around in the garages, thank you Tinman this video is going to make the seal job a lot easier!
Tinman just want to tip my hat to you for solving my mystery piston scoring and cylinder scratches from dog gone paint chips this never crossed my mind I been tinkering with 2 stroke engines since 78 or 79 I thought I had lost it for real I was stumped for sure Thanks Friend
My 70yr old friend has a 044 his father bought so I haveemy eye in it. My Dolmar 152 is all done a part from a new fuel tank gasket which I got from Germany. Also doing a full service on my 2006 MS660 which was a gift from the wife, it works perfectly in every way but feel it's time to replace almost everything inc seals. Love your videos fella
Stihl is like a Ford, they're great until they need worked on. Lots of gizmos and special brand specific tools and fasteners. I've ran every Stihl concrete saw ever made and they are pretty rugged and easy to start.
Old video but sure was helpful. I have 034av that seems to have this problem. Flywheel side seems to be clean. The clutch side was so dirty and caked in dirt oil heat caked on gunk. ( bought saw from pawn shop over year ago). Just now trying get cleaned up etc. It runs high idle then dies, even did the get it started turned it right side then left, it died on the left. Then it decided to run on both sides but it was screaming. Then upright as it slowed down hit throttle it bogged down and died. Everything I read point to crank seals. Already trimmed impuls line. So after this if seals dont fix looking at fuel line. Thanks again really helpful. Video. Hope you still making them. Speaking of old saws i used to have 045, when it running it was a cutting beast. Muss that old thing.
This is what i have been looking for. Have 2 Stihl 044. 0ne 10mm pin and a 12mm. The 10mm started leaning out bad on me and its an old saw thats never been touched. Been thinking of crank seals and looking for vids. This is perfect. Thanks Tinman. As usual you do a great job.
Super good video. I'm restoring an 041 Farm Boss my Dad gave me in 1981, and I think this video will help me a bit.
(I bought two 044s in 1992 and logged with them at the ranch (with 28inch bars on both) until we sold the place in 2000, then I cut wood with the 044s until 2016. They both still run great, never been to a saw shop for any repairs, and are ready to go. But I'm an old fart now, and, of course, a big expert on everything. Thanks, Tinman.
