A simple piece of jute string, a few lines of acrylic paint, and a beautiful forget-me-not begins to appear. 💙🌼🎨
In this video, I use jute string and acrylic paint to create a large blue forget-me-not flower with a simple string-pulling technique.
The process begins by arranging different shades of blue, light blue, white and yellow acrylic paint on the canvas. Instead of using a traditional brush to shape the main petals, I place a piece of jute string over the wet paint and carefully pull it across the surface.
As the string moves through the colors, the simple lines of paint spread into wide, flowing petals filled with delicate streaks and natural variations. Each pull creates a slightly different pattern, giving the flower its soft and organic appearance.
I repeat the string-pulling process around the canvas until the large blue petals begin to form the complete flower. The combination of deep blue and lighter shades creates depth, while the bright yellow details add contrast and bring the center of the forget-me-not to life.
Once the main flower is complete, I add a few finishing details and small paint splatters to balance the composition and give the artwork its final character.
What I love about this technique is how such a simple material can create so much movement. The texture of the jute string drags the wet acrylic paint into hundreds of fine lines, creating petal details that would be difficult to reproduce in exactly the same way with a traditional brush.
