Recently I took apart four of my decks, so now I only have a reasonable checks notes 31 decks. Amongst them an Orvar deck I'm never playing.

Your first trap, "Too many redundant effects" is one of my traps. I recently altered two of my decks to remove some redundancy in order to add some more variety of answers -- it worked out great. All I had to do was replace like 5 to 7 cards and the decks work much better. For example, in my voltron deck, I have a lot of cards to make my commander unblockable. So I replaced one with Giant Growth (and a few other similar replacements) so now I also have instant speed combat tricks when needed. Now my commander doesn't always need to be unblockable since I can pump her with Giant Growth when needed ... and when she is unblockable, I have an extra pump spell for more damage ... I could even use Giant Growth on an opponent's creature when they're attacking to remove another opponent's creature and for some laughs. It's just more versitile now.

This is SO helpful. I used to be able to make decks so easily. But I am making more decks than I finish at the point I'm at. I have been playing for a decade and sometimes, I think my brain is to...fractured

I’m the green player in my pod (boooo).

I try my best to make my decks as different from each other as possible. Strict but varied themes, ramp (cost reducers, artifacts, ol fashion land) to card access (self mill, big draw spells, scry/ top deck manipulation) with as little card overlap as possible.
If a card is good in two decks, It goes into the one it’s needed in more. I also don’t repeat color combinations. With this recipe I have a bunch of green decks that all play differently.

Because of the two directions of tribal decks like yall said, i have an attack goblin deck, then a sacrifice for value and ping deck. There def is a some overlap but strategy very different.

On the subject of optimizing past your playgroup, I don't hesitate to recommend sweet tech to my friends to help them catch up. Scratches my optimization itch while helping to balance things out!
