UPDATE 26/02/2026 - It is with great sorrow and regret we share the news that yesterday morning, Pete lost his battle and passed away peacefully surrounded by his family. In body and mind, he stayed true to his resilient nature and put up the toughest of fights until the very end!

We know that there are an overwhelming number of people who have been moved by Pete, both in personal encounters with him through his life, and more recently his story of battling through adversity. We cannot express how thankful we are to all those who supported him, his wife Jess and son Oliver, and all of his other friends and family, both directly and indirectly. We have felt an overwhelming wave of support as we negotiated some the most difficult times any of us have encountered, and the army behind us really made a difference.

We know that many of you will feel compelled to reach out to show your love and support during this time, but we ask that you allow those close to Pete space and time to process and reflect.

It will be impossible to forget someone who gave us so much to remember! A life that touches others as yours did, will last forever ♾🤍

Rest easy now, our Evo 🙏

Heartbreaking to endure this disease for both Pete and his loved ones. So cruel. Rest peacefully. And also, I’d like to make a special mention to his wife and how supportive and lovely she is.

A horrible disease have been watching my best friend over two years slowly deteriorate . Wouldn’t wish this on anyone stay strong and keep fighting and hopefully soon they will have a cure . Bless your wife and son ❤

My brother in law has this terrible disease his wife is doing her level best but she is exhausted even though he does get some help,he is now in and out of hospital has lost all movement in his limbs speech fading fast,breathing difficulties.He is hoping to see his daughter get married in August.God bless Ian.❤

My sister was diagnosed in January 2025 and we think the onset was at least two years ago
Her slurred speech was the first noticeable symptom along with muscle atrophy and muscle twitches in her arm and now her saliva build up in her throat & mouth
It’s a bloody cruel disease more cruel than cancer
The MND society here in Auckland has been a god send for my sister
I don’t think her family have fully come to terms with her diagnosis and what is in store for them from this day forward
Like a wheelchair, a van to transport her, and most horrible is her being paralysed not being able to move, touch, talk, smile, it’s crap!!!
She is now looking at breathing apparatus for sleeping at night and Peg for feeding
It’s not fair for my sister 😢😢😢

He is so young. I only learned of this disease this week, and I hate it. How unfair.

My Grandpa died in 2013 of MND hardest thing to watch your loved one die like this infront of you eyes

My friend's fit and health conscious son started to experience the signs of MND when he was cycling and found that one of his feet could not push the pedal. Who could believe that within the year he was laying in bed, paralyzed from the neck down with a tube helping him to breathe and a tube feeding him.  This was a young man, who would go rock climbing,  work out at the gym, swim and cycle everywhere and all before that one symptom of MND when his foot could not push the pedal. To say his death was a blessing is an understatement. i hope and pray that more money is pumped into research to help find a cure for this very cruel, brutal disease.   Good Luck to Pete Eveleigh,  A lovely family and a loving, strong woman by his side.  Hoping things are going well for him.

I watched this documentary a couple months ago and i came back to see if there was a update. Im so sad that he has passed

This family are truly inspirational. What a cruel unforgiving disease. That little boy is a credit to you both, a little darling, eloquent and so well spoken.
