The EvanMiya College Basketball Show is BACK for the 2026-27 season! After a summer hiatus, Evan pulls back the curtain on the official EvanMiya.com preseason rankings with Kevin Sweeney (Sports Illustrated) and Jim Root (Three Man Weave).
The guys break down EvanMiya's top 30 preseason teams, including Florida, Duke, Illinois, Arizona, Gonzaga, UConn, Houston, Michigan State, Alabama, Louisville, St. John's, Texas Tech, LSU, Kentucky, Kansas, UCLA and more. They discuss how roster continuity, coaching, player talent and EvanMiya's preseason model shape the rankings, as well as which teams have the highest floors and which have the most uncertainty heading into the season.
The show also features a deep dive into the top 30 preseason players, led by Michigan State's Jeremy Fears, along with discussions about Patrick Ngongba, Alex Condon, Thomas Haugh, Chance Mallory, Malachi Moreno, David Mirkovic, Tyran Stokes and more. The guys examine why there are no freshmen or newcomers in the top 30 and why point guards and bigs are dominating the top of the preseason player rankings.
A major storyline throughout the episode is the massive uncertainty surrounding fifth-year and international player eligibility. Kevin explains where the various eligibility cases stand, while Evan shows how his rankings change depending on which players ultimately become available. The group looks at teams such as Texas Tech, St. John's, Arizona, Gonzaga, Alabama and especially LSU, where eligibility decisions could dramatically change the outlook for the season.
Evan also explains the major updates to the EvanMiya preseason model, including new individual projections for high school, Division II and international players, expanded player skill evaluations, and improvements to the team rankings. The episode wraps up with a look at the top preseason mid-majors, including Grand Canyon, VCU, New Mexico and St. Louis, as well as what's coming next for the EvanMiya College Basketball Show and EvanMiya.com.
EvanMiya.com preseason rankings officially update Friday, with full team and player rankings, new player projections and additional site upgrades coming throughout the preseason.
