It’s a question I get asked all the time, and honestly, it’s difficult to give a simple yes or no because so much depends on your personal situation and why you’re moving here.

Sweden has changed since I first moved here. Work permit requirements have become stricter, finding a job can be challenging, housing isn’t easy, and the conversation around immigration has changed.

But Sweden still has a lot to offer. From great work-life balance and safety to good infrastructure and a high quality of life.

So in this video, I want to give you a straight answer: what’s still great about living in Sweden, what’s getting harder, and most importantly, who moving to Sweden still makes sense for.

A migrant will not get welfare any more and a student cannot bring a partner or family. Moreover if you are a workingmigrant the requirements of salary are increasing. So if you are not among the people with the highest pay you probably will not be able to even enter or stay long. If you want to bring a partner or a family the requirements for salary are highly increased because Sweden will not provide for them. If you cant provide for yourself or your partner you will be deported.
There are not a lot of English speaking jobs. Some politicians are working for requring a work migrant to learn Swedish before even being allowed to try and work here.

You speak as if you can just decide to enter Sweden but that is no longer the case. A lot of migrants will no longer be allowed into Sweden and a lot who came are now told to leave.

Sweden has removed the permanent residence for large groups and is even working on taking back those from migrants who got that priviledge earlier. Sweden only wants the best migrants to enter and not to settle but to go home after working some time. Sweden is about to even take back citizenships. Most migrants will never get a citizenship now because it requires the highest performance.

But the TRUTH is very different: Even after paying huge TAX you will almost never get a appropiate healthcare, clinicians and doctors don't have enough knowledge to daignose properly, many times you will be in wrong treatment, transport is just horrible (most places offering one bus in 1 hour, so your travel time will increase and will go in waiting for buses), often they will be late in rain and storm and snow. And last comes the JOB: No, Sweden has NO JOBS for outsiders. Please do your own research and then consider. Ofcourse if you don't get a better place to go then come to Sweden.

Immigration will get stricter. Planning a life here right now is probably a bit risky.

Cool to see another perspective. American Nurse here who has lived in Sweden 5 years and is moving back to the USA. I do not recommend moving to Sweden if you come from USA and work in Healthcare. I am very disappointed with the quality of care in Sweden especially when it comes to hygiene. The stuff I have seen.... 😱 I only recommend moving to Sweden for those who are just wanting to experience Swedish life temporarily, if you have an international job transfer, or if you are moving to be with your significant other who is Swedish. Otherwise, there are many other better options. I know lots of Americans and Brits who are leaving especially because of the current government policies on immigration... and yes these policies affect even non middle easterners especially when it comes to income requirements. Do one thing wrong, and you can be kicked out of the country.

It all depends on where you come from. I'm an EU citizen so I had no problem getting my PN and bank account. Secondly, I work as a physical therapist and had no problem finding a job here. The salary is better than where I came from and I can actually save some money every month, which I couldn't there where I lived. So for me it's all good and I would recommend coming here if you are unsatisfied where you live.

I been living here sin 1991 but my first time here was already in 1983 when i was 8 years old and allot have change not for the better. Yes Sweden is still great in many social aspects do not believe the media that Sweden is all this violent hell hole now that is not true. Is Sweden still worth moving to? for a refugee it is still worth it if your coming to study yes if like in your case working for a international company with a international work environment? then yes but outside that they way things are today? i say no Norway is better.
