Exactly 60 years ago, in February 1966, the famous "Letter of the 25" appeared in the USSR – an appeal from scientists, writers, and cultural figures to Leonid Brezhnev asking him to prevent the rehabilitation of Joseph Stalin.

In this episode, we speak with historian Irina Shcherbakova about the atmosphere after the 20th Congress, why the topic of re-Stalinization once again became a real threat, what role the memory of the war played, and why the opinions of culture and science were so important to the authorities at the time.

Why was Stalin's rehabilitation stopped in 1966, while today his image is returning to textbooks, monuments, and the public consciousness? We examine the reasons and mechanisms.

Guest: Irina Shcherbakova, historian.
