@11:45 ... as far as i understand it a "carrot" is a navigation device for the Hollows (these black balls Anby and Billy fell into). Inside space is warped and has fissures. It is like a labyrinth that changes constantly. To navigate it you either need a "carrot" that has "fresh" navigation data collected by beacons in the hollow or a Proxy like our two MCs who have other means of navigating in the hollow.

About everything looking "soft"; DK if you just mean stylistically, the bouncyness of the animations or if you mean the VHS-Style grain filter they use. I still suggest going to graphics to the bottom and put Color Filter Strenght to 0 to remove the filter.

That seems to increase saturation, contrast and sharpness. But if you like the "foggy" look, that's ok too, it's not massively noticable (unless you do a side-by-side comparison).

Loved (and still love) ZZZ sm, whether it be the amazing style this game puts on display at all times, the animations, the world building and loveable characters ^^ Okay enough glazing xD I always enjoy seeing other people getting into it for the first time because it reminds me of the early stuff that made me love it sm in the first place!
