What does it actually mean to believe the gospel?
In this video, Michael Heiser explains what he often called “believing loyalty”—faith in the true God that does not depend upon having perfect theology or understanding everything correctly.
Jesus gives us a fascinating picture of this in Luke 4:25–29 when He points the Pharisees and Sadducees to two Gentiles: the widow of Zarephath and Naaman the Syrian.
Neither came from Israel. Neither had a perfect understanding of God.
Jesus deliberately chose these two outsiders as examples before the people in the synagogue at Nazareth, and their reaction was so severe that they attempted to throw Him off a cliff.
This video features teaching from the late biblical scholar Dr. Michael S. Heiser and examines his explanation of faith, believing loyalty, and the simplicity of trusting the true God.
Scriptures discussed:
Luke 4:25–29
1 Kings 17:8–24
2 Kings 5:1–19

We complicate the gospel when it is really just believing and giving our loyalty to The Lord.
