This song is actually a huge fan favourite so I have no idea how nobody has requested this up until now

Her “piano face” is her trying to not cry face. This song was incredibly painful for her to sing, for a while.

No one locked in 😂🔓

Every night on the tour, when she performed that song she got an eight minute plus standing ovation. I think it was in Lisbon. They turned on the stadium lights for her so she could see everyone and it was so sweet and then at the third to last show is when she got emotional about the tour ending and that standing ovation.

Actually it was about a guy who asked her to marry him, and she said no (leaving him and his whole family speechless) and she's also surprised that she's only figured out that she didn't want to marry him when he actually asked.. at the bridge of the song she says people called her crazy because she would've made a lovely bride and she ends up saying that she wishes him to find someone who would say yes to everything he has to offer

She’s saying he had a ring to propose, her picture in his wallet so they’re like smitten. his sisters drunk (so it’s like a family event, party type situation). Then she says that she couldn’t give a reason, basically saying she turned him down. “Champagne problems” implies like problems within the relationship when it should be like wealthy and prosperous. Then she turns it at the end and says “you’ll find a new one instead, she’ll patch up the tapestry that I shred.” and says he won’t remember HER (Taylor’s) champagne problems. Like he’ll move on and be ok.

Having all three of you in person together brings such a good vibe and atmosphere. Always loved the reactions but it’s fun seeing you guys all together react

The marriage proposals off. She walked away and left him standing with the ring in his pocket but she couldn't give him a reason why she ended it. End of emotional love story. 😢 Fantastic performance and song. ❤

The crowd gives up to a 10min standing ovation after this song they don't ket her continue ❤❤❤

"Champagne Problems" is like saying rich ppl problems. It seems to me like she wasn't ready and he told everyone before asking. So, bridge and final verse is her leaving and him moving on..
That is just my opinion

This is a heartbreaking song guys! 😅😭🥹

A brilliant detail of this song is that it says kneeS, so the guy is not only asking her to marry him by getting on one knee, but also begging her to accept on one kneeS

“I went to Sylvan learning center” was so real 😂😂😂

You guys are adorable, and we appreciate all the guessing but WOW. This time, WOW. Give it a listen a few more times and “lock in” to the lyrics. She turned down his proposal, and at the end, she wishes the best for him with someone who will say yes. Always enjoy tuning in on Thursdays to laugh at you- I mean laugh WITH you! 😂❤

Never skip the speech before Taylor’s performances. Always give you more inspirations and perspectives behind the songs

Standing ovation every single time. I’ve seen the show LIVE 3 times(Paris and London) , and every time it’s like 8-10 minutes people applauding her at the end. The best part is people singing with her, so great

Great performance to react to. ❤😢Taylor has confirmed "Champagne Problems" is about college sweethearts with different plans for the same night – one wants to end the relationship, the other to propose. The lyrics detail the aftermath: the woman's guilt, the man's heartbreak, and their shared friends' reactions. The phrase "champagne problems" ironically contrasts the characters' privileged issues with larger global concern. This song is fiction. Taylor made it clear that Folklore and Evermore albums are a blend of fact & fiction.

First of all, this is a fictional story, but like others have said, it’s about a guy who is proposing but “she” the fictional girl who’s point of view the story is being told by, turns him down. It’s a wealthy family, party setting, and everything going wrong is “Champagne Problems” or rich people problems. Listen again and pay attention to the lyrics if you can. It’s hard to really understand the first time through. But it’s got a great bridge.
