I don’t think the devs even see heat in its current state as a problem

It's the repetition that kills my motivation. Faced a yoshi in a ft10 and had to deal with his heat smash chip damage into forced stance guess. Every. Single. Round.

Tekken 8 killed my love for the series. I dislike literally everything they've done to the game system.

This is fixable and I’ve been saying this for years now. Remove heat dash on block, mid heat smashes punishable at -10, low heat smashes punishable at -15. Now you can’t just throw out these god buttons and still get a +5 (or more) mixup on block. Additionally to fix the combo length issue, they should remove heat burst bound and limit strong aerial tailspin to once per combo

Just wanna leave this here:
At middle level skill of tekken ergo i would say bushin- tekken king - god of destruction kings are literally popping heat randomly to heat smash and then go into jaguar sprint mixup hoping you guess wrong and then try to snowball the round from there.

Its just bonkers to me the lengths they go to get that heat smash in.
Like its their win condition.

Surprised i dont see enough people talking about it as much given how many different people i ve seen doing it.

Heat NEEDS to be reworked as an earned mechanic. This series will not survive if we have to continue dealing with Heat engagers, Heat enhanced moves, Heat dashs, Heat smash’s, etc every single round. There needs to be room for real Tekken to breathe even if it’s for a few rounds.

No matter how good you are, you are pretty much always at a threat of losing a round to a random heatsmash + random rage art. It's ridiculous

I wish the devs would recognize that the emphasis on Heat and it being at the forefront of so many interactions, and the minimization of neutral, is contradictory to what their mission statement even is. Why is their definition of Aggression being locked down by heat and not encouraging more interactions? For a game that looks fast, it certainly doesn’t feel that way when you’re not allowed to do anything, and that initial feeling of aggression when using heat loses its flair when it’s consistently the best option across a multitude of circumstances. The fix to the issue is changing the priority, and having heat being an embellishment, rather than being at the forefront. Right now, it’s front and center.

I rly like the latest series of videos in how these are just pure demonstrations about how to approach matchups and how tekken 8 is played, especially when considering how people are guided in using their heat.

At 7:12 not only does it threaten a wall break...it gives him a true 3 way wallbreak mixup because he has both a homing high and homing mid that wallsplat on normal hit, making the wall situation a 3-way guess, the only unsafe move out of the three being the heat smash. To even make it worse...on balcony break, Claudio's wall carry is so insane that you'll be at the nex wall eating the two way f3/b1 mixup, after a balcony break

That's three wallbreak threats, two are homing and one an unseeable low. Problem is, the only reward you're getting off it is a -14 punish, which isn't much unless you're on Bryan, Paul, or have a really good EWGF on Mishimas.

miss the pure tekken

Love this series.

I got back into it and immediately ranked up 3 times. Got to people with highly streamlined heat pressure and oki and got bored immediately lol

My main fixes I want for heat is that heat burst should no longer bound and heat smash shouldn’t transition into stance mixups.

Maybe if u could charge the heat bar by blocking cheap damage moves instead of having it already there could give a limit to this big problem

One issue I’ve had with heat since the game launch is that you have some heat engagers that end in and are punishable on block. What I don’t like is when you pop heat with these moves, they end up becoming plus but not only are they plus they are so plus that you are forced to eat a mixup. Why should I be forced to eat a mixup and be punished for blocking correctly?

Edit: you mention this at 1:45 so thank you for bringing it up

All the crazy heat moves and heat smashes feels like a monkey pawed wish for people who wanted rage drives to stay from 7.

As a Jin player since tekken 7, I can, of course, not play the character without my +2ob safe tracking jailing mid-mid string that gives wallsplat on hit while in heat. He'd be impossible to play without this move in tandem with my jumping mid that puts me in a stance Jin has never had before this game where I can fully force 50/50 for a launch or true 16 frame hellsweep. I'm simply too stupid to play the game without these integral options to Jin's offense, as it is his legacy identity to be a rushdown-mix character.

😍

I got a feeling that the heat will be removed around the time the new VF comes out.

An idea(perhaps not a good one):

- Heat Burst and Heat Engage require Rage, and you lose Rage when Heat activates.

- Heat Dash no longer activates on block(or punishable on block)
