You make a point here that I try to emphasize as a reason we need more confirmed, truly canon information: The state of FNaF theorizing is essentially heaping conjecture upon conjecture upon conjecture.
Even our baseline assumptions aren't things we can have COMPLETE confidence in, and it's gotten to the point where our only option is to ASSUME that a lot of core theories are right. And that... isn't really ideal.
Another thing is that the name Cassidy literally means “curly hair”. And what is Andrew’s defining feature? His curly hair. That feels intentional to me. But yeah, I agree with a lot of this. Scott could’ve used ANY MCI kid for the Vengeful Spirit, but made up someone that we only hear of in a book series??
I always wondered why exactly Cassidy WAS the vengeful spirit until recently. Like, why does she do what she does? Just because she's more angry than the others, means she gets to keep their killer alive and presumably keep the other spirits in UCN to torment him? (Based on speculation) But then, just today actually, I was reminded of the Springlocked Cassidy Theory, the theory that Cassidy was shoved into the Golden Freddy suit by William and was springlocked. This theory makes a ton of sense!! It would explain why the end screen of UCN is Golden Freddy twitching because when Willaim was springlocked, he was also twitching, so that could be telling us how Cassidy was killed. Another hint would be that some people think Cassidy was killed DURING FNAF 2 because Golden Freddy became a threat the night when Phone Guy tells you that "one of the yellow suits was used". Perhaps that suit was used to kill a child, but not in the way you might think. Now, I was confronted with this idea by a friend who wrote about Cassidy, and they described her as having springlock scars. A cool design. An awesome description. But it made me suddenly be hit with the realization that THIS CHILD COULD HAVE BEEN SPRINGLOCKED. It had never hit me as hard as it did then. I have seen many animations, sound designs, and analyses on springlock failures. Heck, I've even seen your video describing a springlock failure. I've heard sound designers put together what they think it might've sounded like when William was springlocked, all kinds of stuff like that. I always saw springlock failures as a truly horrifying part of fnaf, but never dwelled too hard on it. But when I was given the mental image of Cassidy with the same scars as William from the novels, it made me suddenly imagine all those audios, all those descriptions, all those animations with CASSIDY instead. A little kid.
Can you even imagine that? Could you comprehend the thing you're imagining? Imagine a little girl getting shoved into a suit by a man who is bigger and stronger than her. She struggles, but the man overpowers her and locks the suit. It's cramped and dark, and the girl desperately tries fidgeting to get out. This suit was decommissioned ages ago, she has no idea what it is. Suddenly, either her tears, her movement, or something caused by William triggers something, and the springlocks snap God, the sounds... the sounds she would have made... the image of a little girl screaming in agony as her bones get crushed and her body is twisted and snapped before another sickening crunch cuts her screaming off, and then just hearing the gurgling choking and sobs of a scared kid coming from a Fredbear suit... I never truly imagined Cassidy being springlocked until now... I've imagined Willaim getting springlocked many times... and now replacing that with a scared, screaming child... god... Let's just say I understand Cassidy's anger a fair bit better now...
Considering why Cassidy is the vengeful spirit is a interesting question, because of all afton’s victims why is she the one who wants to pull UCN on him the most, and there’s some interesting ideas, my take was that she was bound to the Fredbear costume that pretty much prevented her from moving for over 30 years and her only companion was a crybaby who couldn’t do much. That would definitely anger me to the point that when I was finally free, I would finally take revenge on the person that made a massive mistake killing me.
If anything it serves as an interesting parallel to the crying child who has been with her in the suit the entire time, even longer. Unlike Cassidy he probably forgave his brother or realized he was trying to save them and let go of his hate, and personally it creates that interesting dynamic where CC is trying to at the very least realize, Mike is going to save them, but Cassidy is so jaded that she doesn’t believe that for a second.
Idk it’s more interesting than the random crocodile masked kid.
at this point the whole thing about Cassidy's genre and whether or not the Frights and Tales books really are from the same continuity as the games is just torture, we need some kind of confirmation for all this nonsense
fun fact: cassidy can be either a boy or girl's name. i have a friend who is a dude and his parents named him cassidy., and it's logged under gender neutral names on google. i dunno if scott did this on purpose, but i don't think the gender of cassidy/golden freddy really matters in the fnaf lore.
14:47 is the easiest way to shut down VengefulAndrew, like seriously, the question isn't why Andrew is the vengeful spirit, but why would Scott make them the vengeful spirit
I love how genuine this video is, it's not about solving something but rather ranting about being completely lost and without solution, honestly pretty relatable
What I really hate is how theorists seem to be super, super allergic to new characters. Cassie has to be Cassidy or charlie, gregory has to be C.C, everyone in existence has to be Elisabeth. the theory matpat had dragging willaims wife in (is now ancient if you do some maths to try and get an age) to be pulling the strings since he couldn't find a different old character to reuse, it's ridiculous.
in short: fnaf theorists can't settle on any one character's personality, sometimes micheal is a douche, sometimes hes a kind soul, sometimes cassidy wants to keep william in hell, sometimes she just sort of... exists, sometimes elizibeth is a kind little girl, other times she is "the next big bad", sometimes charlie wants to help the souls move on, sometimes she is a robot and may/may not be baby and the puppet at the same time maybe? idk. frankly i dont find the personalities of the characters important because scott is almost equally as inconsistent as the theorists in terms of keeping the characters in character, if you ask me only the names of the characters matter.
I really appreciate this kind of content, being up-front about uncertainty, as opposed to general trend in FNaF theorists (especially on Youtube) being more like, "something something CONFIRMED!!!!", "DEBUNKING blah blah blah", "I SOLVED Five Nights at Freddy's!!!!!!!", etc etc. I know it's mostly just clickbait, but I still find it pretty exhausting and obnoxious. We're all in this together, we should be able to acknowledge that basically everything in this story is obscured by many layers of mystery and uncertainty. I much prefer this sort of discussion-style writing, where you're just going through ideas and explaining how you feel about them and why, without any overconfident pretenses.
Completely agree with you mate, this has been immensely frustrating and difficult, you made a great point comparing Michaels reveal and the Andrew reveal. Michaels reveal essentially makes a lot of events in the games neater to put together and simpler to understand. Andrews reveal does nothing but invalidate an existing character that was name dropped in one of the biggest lore books in the series. Again, sometimes the simplest answer is the correct answer, and I think the Andrew reveal and the over reliance of book stuff has done more harm than good. I agree that the books parallel *in some ways*, but they’re not the be all end all to answering all the questions we have. Still, keep up the great work.
If Cassidy truly is Golden Freddy, (alongside BV) TOYSNHK, The Vengeful Spirit, the LogBook spirit and the Princess, than she is my favorite FNaF character
I sometimes wonder where the solidified lore points actually are. 1-3 is arguably a good cutoff point. 1-4 is explicitly an intended ending. Fnaf world ties into the 1-4 story in some way, and acts as a testing ground for future story lines. The Novel Trilogy begins. Sister location - UCN has some ties to both the first Novel and 1-4? But how everything fits is really confusing. Fazbear Frights, FNAF AR, Help Wanted, Security Breach, and Tales are all trying to tell us something?
What I would wish for is an explicit explanation of 1-UCN as a baseline for the modern story. If that is too much, then we need an explicit guide to what is important to the lore right now.
