In this video, Magnus Midtbø takes me through a bouldering session and teaches me some of his secrets from over 15 years of climbing experience. Magnus is known for his technical bouldering ability and I can confirm that this was crazy to see in person! I also challenge Magnus to series of bouldering races including an auto belay route, speed wall and campus climbing challenge. Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced climber, hopefully you gain some valuable climbing tips from the video (or just enjoy watching me get schooled by a world champion climber!).

Magus looks small standing next to Matt but you can tell the guy is shredded. His forearms are massive too, a true climbers physique.

I think the conversation in the first few minutes reveals one of the most important skills in climbing: Thinking. The brain is like a muscle, it must be trained to work most effectively

Matt something that could help your climbing form a lot is to give yourself challenges to be quieter on the wall. It's a headspace that gives you direct feedback on whether you're being precise and controlled in your movements, and you'd be surprised how much stronger you feel if you're in control of your body and not slapping/slamming holds. Thinking more about body movement and balance, etc. It's not an instant change or anything (forearm pump is the biggest roadblock for any newcomer obvi), but you'd see rapid improvement over a few sessions.

I found this because I watch a lot of Magnus's stuff... don't be hard on yourself... compared to any beginner, you knocked it out of the park.

Watching this with my 6yo daughter who gets proper frustrated when she can't do something first time and she say" oh legend needs to practice stuff too so we are the same"

Dude you have a great cameraguy. Watched some of your videos compared to others he captured the bouldering surprisingly well. Oftentimes these are done with not the best view on the relevant movements. Also I dont get how you would come across as a villain. Great chemistry in these collabs tbh

Honestly, when Matt was struggling at the end of the climb I was waiting for the music to start and Olima Omega to appear from above with his signature smile.
