Human security attaché Nathanial Cross receives one absolute warning before meeting Sovereign Vaelia: never touch the Alien Queen’s sacred Crown of Aethelgard. Breaking that law means execution—and possibly war with Earth.
Then Nate spots a human sniper hidden inside the supposedly impenetrable Zenith Spire. The shot strikes Vaelia’s living crown, leaving a tungsten round dangerously close to her neural tissue. With seconds to act, Nate does the unthinkable: he rushes the throne, touches the forbidden crown, and secretly removes the bullet.
What appears to be a catastrophic diplomatic mistake soon exposes a conspiracy reaching into the highest ranks of the Xylok Dominion. Now Nate must hunt the assassin, uncover the traitor behind the attack, and prevent a false-flag operation from igniting an interstellar war.
An intense HFY sci-fi story of alien diplomacy, assassination, human ingenuity, political betrayal, and one man willing to break an empire’s most sacred law to save its Queen.
