The Queensland rail lady you spoke to at Roma street station is named Erica, she used to own a model trail store in Brisbane that used to visit as a little kid. Erica is an amazing lady who represents Queensland and Brisbane so well. Glad I watched this video :)

The best thing about Brisbane is that it is the center of a beautiful region. The Gold Coast is close-by to the south, and its hinterland is magical. To the west are beautiful mountain areas, to the east are the islands of Moreton Bay, and to the North is the wonderful Sunshine Coast. I have lived in Sydney since 1975. I need the big city libraries and universities, but Queensland is still my favorite state. And, it just gets better, the further north you go.

Congratulations on your realization that Australian cities have vastly different characters, however, some things are the same everywhere, unlike much of the rest of the world, Australian cities are clean, safe, have great public facilities and good public transport, and there is a happiness factor caused by Australians having the feeling of being in a land of opportunity and beauty, and we are very lucky to be here. It is a country of tolerance, multiculturalism that works, and people from all over the world coming here because the future is what we make of it, and Australians are busy trying to make it better. It is not perfect, but we try to make it as good as we can.

This was so cool to see as a lifelong Brisbane resident. It's amazing to see you appreciate the first impression. The real joy of Brisbane is that it is a hub to access the amazing experiences that you can access within 2 hours of the city. That's the real benefit of living in Brisbane. Access to the Gold Coast, Sunshine Coast, and the sub-tropical rainforests that surround the city is the real joy of living in this city. I hope you enjoy your experiences here as you have just scratched the surface.

I swear visitors know more about the city than me. I love seeing it from new eyes because I learn so many new things.

Brissy girl born and raised and I love my city. So glad you both enjoyed it. I love how our city is green and open and doesn’t feel so concrete jungle like Sydney and Melbourne (had to throw it in there haha) It does get super hot and we may be slower pace but I think that is part of its appeal, I mean come on we have a man made beach in a city precinct. So much to do in Brisbane without feeling overstimulated. Wish you much joy and safe travels.

Make sure you wear hats and use sunscreen here in Queensland. You will burn to a crisp in the sun if you don’t, especially because you guys aren’t used to our weather.
