Hey mate, it seems I’m just as impulsive as you, and I’ve realised it’s both a blessing & a curse. We wouldn’t have got to where we are without taking risks that other people might shy away from, but sometimes those risks don’t work out. I’ve had plenty of failures along the way.

Like you, I hoped our shop would be something that could tick along quietly on the side without my constant input, but it demands so much more of me than I imagined. It’s left me asking, “Why am I actually doing all of this?”

We’re always thinking the grass is greener, or convincing ourselves there’s enough time to fit everything in. But every new thing we take on takes time away from something else, often the things we love most.

I’m starting to think that, as gardeners, we’d be happier stripping things back. Growing, providing for our families & spending time in the garden & sharing it through videos already gives us so much of what we’re looking for. Maybe the hardest thing is trusting that it can be enough. ❤️❤️ keep teaching & inspiring my friend! Thank you for all you’ve done. Gaz & family

Thank you for talking about this, Huw (and team). This is very brave of you and more people need to do the same. I worked in new business development for one of the world's largest beverage companies. We had well over a century of experience to draw upon and a huge budget and most of our product launches were simple line extensions (a different flavor of cola, for ex) and 80%, 8 out of 10 of our new product launches failed. Those limited time products? The companies hope they are permanent products. They merely know most of them will fail. In the business community, we often joke that you're not a true entrepreneur if you don't have a few failures in your history. It still hurts. (big hugs) But it isn't something you need to hide from true businesspeople.

Thank you Huw for being so brave making this video talking about the nursery! Life is never a straight line, there are always bumps on the way, high and lows. What makes the difference is how you get up again and what you learn from what you have just gone through! What a great idea this 2nd channel was! Using your main one to stay factual/ learning/ cementing your brand etc and then this one to give us the much more 'uncut' glimpse into the reality of what's going on for you. This was a brave video for you to share, Huw - it was clear how excrutiating the vulnerability of it was for you.  I can only say, I think it helps the rest of us to be braver in whatever garden decisions we make. Btw you are spot on when you talk about what an asset the perennial garden will be to highlight and showcase the nursery when you are ready to start selling again.

Authenticity always speaks strongly to other people. Watching your YouTube content has changed my gardening perspective. Your outlook, information, and content has encouraged me to implement non-traditional improvements for my gardening plot. This year I grew Dahlias next to the ends of my raised garden bed. So after 6 years of retirement I have an organized chaos form of food, gardening, and food forest. I love it! Keep sharing your content, ideas, and valuable information.

An honest review of what can happen when you start a new small business. Even non-plant based business owners will recognize a lot of the issues that you faced. It's a journey and each "failure" is actually an opportunity for growth in so many ways. You have a new plan that sounds good, so hang in there and know that you are not alone in your struggles. I am completely new to gardening and have been nervous to even start but I have been taking so many notes and have been learning so much on paper, for now, from you everyday. I am currently in a small apartment in the city but I'm moving out of the city in a few months. I am so excited and happy to start but the only thing I have ever done was put grass down with my grandpa when I was a little girl and play in his garden lol
