Adam channels his inner Buddy the Elf in this epic build he completed just in time for the holidays! In order to recreate one of his favorite scenes in Elf, Adam sources the exact elevator panel buttons used for the original prop and builds an interactive display that he can light up any time! Looks like a Christmas Tree!

You need to add a mode where they slowly turn off one by one up to the top, like an elevator would

The irony of a bank of elevator buttons next to the stairs. Love it

What a fun watch! I was an elevator repairman for 25 years. Loved my work but like any job it had its ups and downs.

3:20 - 😂 One of my favourite things about Adam Savage, is when he is excited about something and starts 3-4 different sentences before stopping, compiling his thoughts and then speaking again.

They changed the 'Open Door', 'Close Door' buttons to symbols so they would be recognizable regardless of what language you can read.

I'm proposing a third functional mode. Any button you push stays on the exact amount of time it would take for the real elevator to get to that floor. If more than one are pushed it goes through them as the real elevator would have reached that floor. :)
Amazing content as always!

A long press on 42 should make it scroll the text “DON’T PANIC”

Your youthful enthusiasm for this project so perfectly reflects the spirit of Elf in a very satisfying way.

I'm gunna replace all the light switches in my home with elevator buttons

The light bulb cartel story might be misinformed, please see Technology Connections' Longer-lasting light bulbs: it was complicated video, he does an excellent job at explaining it

Would be fun to hook an old school alarm bell to the bell button 😂

Create a small, functional elevator with doors and everything. Then, when the correct combination is pressed, a hidden back door opens to reveal a secret room

13:21 I like how they even omitted the button for floor 13. it's a common thing to see because people are superstitious and many find that the 13th floor of buildings are particularly haunted or cursed

Haha love Adam’s rare on-screen swearing for Tetris - “F’n Tetris!” 39:55

How great it is to be invited into your shop to share an hour of the joy you have when building. The time simply flew past as a result

Every maker video he puts out reinvigorates my desire to quit my job and pursue this livelihood. Absolutely love it

The first 30 seconds are something special, your wonderful singing while you do a quick measurement check using your tattoo is something I never knew I wanted to see. Thank you for the past 20 years of child like joy and inspiration Adam.

Peeling protective paper off to expose the results of many hours of work is even more fun than popping bubble wrap. I just closed a show that required (allowed ?) me to pull off 1,856 square feet of protective wrap. 58 panels, each of which were 4' by 8'. This show took 11 months from "We want a ......" to loadout. Great fun!
